I noticed that there was a Mod that gave you Republic Commando armor. So my question is: is it any good? What are stats on it? Do different ones have different effects?

For specific mods, there is a forum thread at the mod page on the Nexus. It is in the list of links where you select pics or files etc. That usually has your best source of individual mod feedback or issues.
