So uh..about those Daedric "Artifacts"..

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:55 pm

there is no proof that 70% of Tes players are on console.

I personaly think Artifacts should not be the best in terms of protection/damage ect. but they should defiantly bring something unique, interesting and viable to the table. Wabberjack for example cannot be replicated, it is very unique.

That is correct.

Non-paying players are also players.

But the SALES numbers tell us that the consoles have sold 3 000 000 units (2 000 000 for 360 and 1 000 000 for PS3) while PC is at 560 000.

85% of legitimate owners are on console, and 15% are on PC.

Uh, yes there IS proof that OVER 70% of players are on consoles. Beth released their sales figures.

On topic, I agree with OP. Artifacts are far to easily replaced for what it takes to get them.

This is why I'm usually against crafting in general in games.

It doesn't make sense that a guy who has been crafting weapons and armor for a few months can make better stuff than the epic artifacts of myth and legend, but if people put all that effort into crafting they expect to be able to make the best stuff in the game since they devoted so much of their character to it.

Agree. I just got the dawnbreaker and turned out it was a lot worse than my ebony sword. If artifacts scale then its even worse. They are supposed to be amazingly powerful things created by daedric princes.

It doesn't bug me too much, but I do think the Artefacts do need to be either better at the baseline or upgradeable to Legendary. Ideally they (to fit with lore as much as anything) start off Legendary, or at least have Legendary level un-upgradeable base stats (so they don't have (legendary) in their name, they are just good straight out of the box)

It's a bit silly, otherwise.

And that is EXACTLY my point.
"Oh hey! I just got this ULTRA MACE OF DEATH AND ABSORPTION FROM THE DEATH GOD OF DEATH FORGED IN THE SOUL OF HATRED oh hey look, a Dwarven Mace, better stats. *equip*"
Lol?

Pretty sure Artifacts are NOT scaled?

Artifacts are scaled, but you can use smithing to improve most of them

No, they are not.

I don't see why they wouldn't be, but I guarantee that they are upgradeable

Mind explaining how I managed to get a 62 damage Mace of Molag Bal? That's way better than what I get.

I thought weapon charges drain based on the magical skill of the user? (IE a fire weapon's charges deplete slower if someone has high destruction) Or is that just for staffs?

I'm currently using a Dwemer War Axe rather than the Mace of Molag Bal because after upgrading it's better (63 smithing with dwemer perk). If the MoMB didn't run out of charges after ~40 swings it might be worthwhile, or if it fell in to a category of weapon I could perk for upgrading.

Don't even get me started on the Ebony Blade.

There is no possible way that a mortal could make something as powerful as a unique artifact personally gifted by an immortal daedric prince.

The artifacts *should* be the most powerful thing in the game.

Though, they should also be the most difficult things to get. :)

The damage shown is based on your 1-handed skill/perks/gear.

Some of the Daedric weapons cannot be graded properly due to them not classified as certain types of material and receiving the double upgrade perk bonus.

For others you actually don't have the perk itself to upgrade them double if you are on the wrong side of the smith tree. Which is a misunderstanding and which is a real bug, only you can find out.

However I do find the enchantment part of most of them underwhelming. They should all have unique effects not enchantable, even if they are statically inferior to maxed enchanted weapons. Alternately, they should have infinite charges.
