It was exact the same for me. While i did the quests for them, everytime i finished one and headed to my next, a Dragon attacked my right after i stepped out of the Door.

The only bug type thing I ran into was when a dragon attacked me near one of the mills, and I accidently hit a guard, so after the dragon died the guard attacked me, when I paid the fine it teleported me to the main hold and when I went back it gave me the notification I got the Dragon Soul, but I couldn't find his body.

I've ran into them all over the map....they even seem to find me more often than I find them.

I delete the characte but I had 5 dragon encounters there... Random my ass.

Yeah same for me. They are random, and it's much easier for them to run into them randomly than if i look for them. But i have the same problem. Often around the college of winterhold and dawnstar. for a long time maybe five or six times in a row when i fast travelled to dawnstar i had a dragon appear within seconds.

They seem to fly around the tops of mountains.

They are definitely random, but i think hotspots occur. Maybe a bug, but probably the probability of one being there is just too high. Still random, just not random done "well".

It svcks too sometimes though when they're already at a town i just arrived in. I've had to fight two at once in one of these instances. A frost dragon was already attacking dawnstar and then another regular fire dragon showed up. It was a rough time but totally epic.

While I've found them all over the map, I definitely think there are some places that they gravitate towards (perhaps there is a spawn point nearby). I've killed three in the College of Winterhold, and I've spent very little game time there. I've killed 5 in Riverwood, and I generally just pop in there to sell stuff then leave. That's 8 of the 25 or so dragons I've killed in 2 places (and I do a lot of cross-country running, since I try to avoid using fast travel too much). I'm not saying that's not within the realm of statistical possibility to be random, but it seems pretty unlikely to me.

You get them all the time if you fast-travel there. It's great to fight them out on the arch-mage platform right at the top.

as others said, its a product of fast traveling. they're supposed to be random but if u fast travel a lot, it will go to where u travel to force u to fight them. stops people from bypassing dragons altogether. dragons will follow their prey for miles if they have to. ive chased dragons halfway across the map just for fun. some of them like to stay in the air and fly in giant circles. some stay on the ground so long i end up summoning my dread lord to kill them (usually im forced to use storm/flame atronarch as they're ranged). i suspect this issue os a product of u encountering the dragon mid-way through the fast travel and it just follows u there.

stop fast traveling there and u'll see them less.

you guys must be lucky,I RARELY find dragons lol.When I see one it's like ''sweet! a dragon!''. Or I find them when they fly too high and I can't attack them.And I travel a lot to Whiterun and no dragon ever attacked . Mine always seem to be in the wilderness. But it was actually funny once when I was ready for a fort battle and suddenly a dragon lands in front of me. That def scared me!

I had one attack in Winterhold, while another just flew around in circles while it all went down.
After I (along with willing guards) killed the one attacking the city, the other flew away.

I think I've had atleast one dragon attack for most of the cities, and countless in the wilds..they seem pretty random to be, but certain locations are indeed more frequent than others, seeing as I too had a dragon crash down behind me at the girl on my way to the greybeards

I have one at practically every city. And some out in the open fields. To me that's pretty random.

I have 2 skeltons at winterhold.

I have noticed I keep getting dragons at the same place but I'm not complaining. I still love the game. I had one incident in one of the small unwalled cities where the dragon flew overhead, burned some stuff, then flew into the mountains. He repeated this several times while both Dragonrend and Odahviing did...wait for it....NOTHING!

I only ever had one at the College and it was in the courtyard/on the walls, and I ended up killing J'zargo in the crossfire :'( Apart from that I've never encountered dragons in the same area more than once really, except for one time where I fought two dragons at once O.O

mine were all random.. the one at winterhold the mages there slaughtered it themselves without my help. The latest one was north of whiterun at that cave with all the iron ore in it.. was going there to get some quick grand souls from the respawned bandits when I ran into it attacking a giant and joined in.
