So about those random Dragon encounters

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 11:33 am

I've played for about 28 hours and all the random Dragon encounters have been at the college of winterhold specifically the front courtyard. I have three Dragon skeletons, too on the ground and one on the wall. Anyone else have some similar experience?

That's what you would expect to happen in a random number system. Repetition happens. It's just rare.

I'm not really complaining, I was just curious if anyone had a similar experience.

I have 2 dragons at the college of Winterhold, 2 in winterhold itself but the rest i bump into when i fast travel or generally explore on foot.

I read somewhere that the College seem's to be a hotspot for dragon's so if your in need of soul then thats the place to go for the increased chance of a Dragon spawning.

I think there's a bug with Winterhold College.

I can reliably get a dragon every 2nd time I fast travel there.

Coincidence maybe, but the place is really starting to fill up with corpses.

I've hold 2 at winterhold and 4-5 around whiterun (especially at the fort where you fight your first one)

Out of all the ones I've killed in my 70 hours, I've had two in the college. One on the walls and one in the courtyard. I had one down in Winterhold itself as well, but for the most part I keep finding them flying around the mountains near Whiterun.

Never had dragons appear at the same location that many times, well, apart from the dragon stones but they're hardly random.

There's an Orc stronghold in the south west of the map that I frequently visited to receive one-handed training. There seemed to be a dragon attack every time I was there. It felt more like a scripted event stuck on loop than random encounters.

I am currently doing a fast travel rotation around skyrim to buy soul gems (already filled) and whenever I get back to the College I am attacked by a dragon. Now I don't mind because I have the arch-mage to help out but damn; 4 in a row so far?

Dragons I'm pretty sure use a similar system as roadside events which is to say there are specific locations they can spawn and only those specific locations, but whether or not they do spawn and maybe what type is random.

Best one for me was on my way up to see the Greybeards. I stop to talk to the girl that's sitting down in front of the tablet (right before the frost troll) and BAM! A blood dragon swoops down and we battle. Poor girl died too.

It was epic. I love this game.

Dragons really seem to have something against Dawnstar on most of my playthroughs.

It still is pretty random, especially when I'm out in the wild.

Can you drag Dragon Bones? It'd be nice if we could dump them off a cliff after we looted them.

I have dragons randomly come in from all sorts of places. Solitude had a [censored] dragon attack the front gates. The guards all shot at it, I shot at it.. then it landed out front to attack HORSES of all things. You know, the things that aren't shooting arrows. I ran over to watch two horses pwn the living crap out of the dragon.

I haven't been able to drag them but I have blasted them out of the College courtyard with lightning spells and shouts. So you can use magic to move them.

Okay it's officially a bug. I just finished smiting my fourth Dragon same place. Despite its thing I've six Dragon souls absorbed(two from quests 4 are random) I can't use them to unlock new Shouts from the random generated dragons. This will be moved to the PC section of Skyrim Hardware and Software Issues. What are the odds of having four dragons randomly generate in one place. On top of that not being able to use their souls.

Dragons in my playthrough really hate Dawnstar. Though despite all the dragon attacks, not a single person has died.

What I'm trying to say is that I've not had a single had a single Random encounter outside the winner hold courtyard. Champion of Nocturnal can you use Dragon souls from those encounters?
