I absolutely love the community here

Post » Fri Mar 07, 2014 12:54 pm

After the BETA ended this weekend (wich i played non-stop, i loved the game) i start visiting this forum daily to learn more about the game before launch. And i just love this place.

Every1 takes threads serious, very little troll amount and ppl are actually answering questions here.

I'm coming from a game's community wich is just awfull. I won't tell wich game cuz it doesn't matter and this thread is not about that. i'll just say it's a famous online shooter.

On the forums there, users are considered enemies just like in-game. no one takes a thread serious, everybody is complaining and insulting alot. I understand it's a competitive game but it's exagerated. lately every night i finish my gaming session there i'm so tired and upset i feel like breaking something.

I hop the community here remains the same all the way, and i can't wait for the game. Peace out.

Hotah.

FPS gamers are all about winning mmo rpg not so much some overlap myself included, but FPS tends to ramp up ppl emotions more so when they get beat, mmo is more relaxed as even in pvp you know it was skill not a hack.

CoD is number 1 on the list for community followed by WoW from my exp.

Came from a similar place, and I actually miss it...

I see little difference here to be honest, just that it's a larger place where you're less likely to bump into your enemies...

These Forums are quite different from time to time then from what you have seen, OP. No offense intended to anyone.

There's the common individuals who attack an agenda (anti-pvp, anti-social, or anti-pve, etc), and those who have an agenda they push (like myself and player housing). There are the guys who took a wrong turn and think this game should change completely to be something else (the permanent PvP crowd, or the group who don't know why it costs money to play). And finally, there are trolls who just poke fun to poke fun.

That said, I don't generally shy away from the pushy atmosphere of most FPS and full-time PvP games. It's an atmosphere that was common in sports growing up, in the Marine Corps, and even in my mostly-male job field (I'm a butcher). In fact, I love it. The constant insults, jibes and jokes, all completely intended to be nothing more than hot air.

But that kind of joking isn't for everybody, and should be kept to back rooms and private spaces. I'll joke like that in guild chat, or with a player I know, but when it takes over a whole medium, like a forum, I think everybody suffers.

i think forum/online behaviour has moved on in the last few years. everyone has easy access to a troll hammer nowdays. but yes this is a nice community...the big question is; when is it moving??

like you said, FPS are about winning, always. Its a huge competition and alot of people take that very seriously (competitive nature person).

In a mmo, unless you get deep into pvp zone, people can be laid back ( i said can )

Most mmo beta forums I have seen start out like this, although the amount of devoted fanboiism here is unusually high. A few months into the game you'll see the regular forums gradually turn into the usual hotbed of haters and complainers. Everyone here is hyped for the game, and even the people that see some issues like inventory space or whatever really want to play it.

That's one of the things I like. People argue. I love a good argument, and happily engage in them and play devil's advocate, even when I agree with the persons' original point.

As far as the monitors, maybe I haven't been inflammatory enough to catch their ire yet. But since this is your first post, I'd guess you had to make an all new account because another has gotten silenced. Meaning, your view of moderators would obviously be a little biased, if that were the case.

I'm talking specifically about the crap storm that came about when Matt Firor said that "raids aren't Elder Scrolls."

Everyone knows now that there will be an Adventure Zone in at launch, or they should.

I thought the AZs announcements were concurrent with the information of "no raids" thing iirc
