Accents Changing

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:53 pm

I created a character with O'Hares voice pack, and I also created one with the Jamaican one, and now when i play on the Irish one, He sounds Jamaican.

Anyone know how to fix this? I saw another topic, but no one answered the guy.

Any help is appreciated.

Yes, that was mine. For me it changed the third voice to the fourth voice (american to (raspy British) And my first character has the fourth voice. This is happening to all the characters I make. About 6 (I've deleted several because of this.

Hope they fix it, kinda makes me not want to make characters.

I have attempted to use the Ryan McCluskey voice multiple times only to have it "magically" transform into the Jimmy Akingbola accent. I am unsure when this glitch occurs, but it is early in the game (it occured in the third mission on [edit: BOTH] my latest character[s]).

This is not a game breaker like the AI and the lag, but it is a major turn-off.

Like the guy said, nothing against Jamaicans, but that's not who I want to be stuck hearing for the rest of the game. Which, all things considered, may not be very much longer. I now fully wish the devs had pushed back the game's release again. I'd rather have a quality product late than a poor one now.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one having this problem. 3 of may characters sound like Damien O'Hare now and one sounds like Ray Shell.

Yeah this recently affected my character as well. Now I have an annoying voice pack after trying to create a second character, and no matter how many new characters I try to make it ALWAYS defaults to that voice. Fair that this isn't a huge issue, but I find it odd that one of the few non-changeable options is the one that is constantly messing up. I may have to put the game on hold for a bit until some of these and more severe bugs get sorted out. Still a good game, just needed some more polish to it.

Same problem here, though it seems to only occur on my two characters that have the Ryan McCluskey voice, being changed to David Yip. Like others have said, I don't have anything against the other accent choices, but I chose the voice to fit the archetype, and David Yip definitely doesn't suit him.

I've had the same issue. Created my first character, selected a fairly Jamaican-sounding accent and got started. Ran to my first command post and switched to Engineer and heard the soundbite in a Belfast accent.

Was confused, but no matter, I thought I must have selected the wrong voice.

Then I started another character chose Alec Newman's voice. Started playing and, once again, Damian O'Hare.

it's starting to get a bit annoying now.

Agreed 100%. I will admit that it was interesting fto play as a thin-built Japanese runner with a deep Scottish accent but it's still slowly wearing down on me. Luckily it hasn't greatly altered my gaming experience with it... yet.

I have the same problem. Made a guy with the Irish voice first, and when I started unlocking more clothes I made a few other guys all with different looks and voices. The first time I used them they each had the correct voice, but when I used them again later they had the Irish voice. My 1st guy is level 20 and my 2nd and 3rd are about level 12. I don't mind deleting my other characters when/if a patch that fixes this comes out, but I'm stuck with 3 different guys all sounding the same.

Yeah I have the same problem, its comforting to know that there are people having the same issue. I know that kinda sounds creul, but it means the issue will be noticed and fixed.

I have a simple remedy for the problem in the meantime of a patch, but its not a true fix to the bug: i.e. it'll stop the bug from currpoting your characters but procedure is a hassle.

When wishing to change characters, sign your xbox profile out, the game will take you to the main 'press start' menu, then sign back in and load the next character. In other words, do not use the character selection option after loading a character from the initial prompt.

This work 99% of the time, but if you want extra security, create a dummy profile and swap between the profiles before returning to your inital profile and swaping characters (that's allot of swapping though).

Essentially, I figure out that the voice curroption occurs when you use the 'character selection' option after already selecting a character from the initial pre-game selection--its the bottom most option located in the character customisation sub menu with 'weapons' and 'appearance' (DON'T USE IT). I think the game loads the first character from the initial prompt as a default for values like the dossier and game options (such as control setting and preffered class) thus when you use the 'character selection' option these defaults are transfered to the newly selected character, and sadly so does the voice (even if they have the same one).

Additionally, when reloading these corrupted characters, sometimes the voice, due to the corruption, will be set to the default voice option that would be used if you were to create a new character from the in-game character selection menu. I found this out because when my character started sounding irish, and I created a new character, the voice was set to the irish voice, same for the jamacain, same for the asian. Each time the character selection screen loads (pre-game or in-game), I think it randomly selects a default archetype for your next new character, and the voices are matched to that archetype (so you get black guys sounding black). Thus you can get the random voice swap happening here, as this random value is different from your character's archetype so you will get mismatched accents and races. (your asian ninja sounding irish).

So hope that helps. God it was scary when an Irish voice transposed upon my light body type asian medic, and then on to my level 20 white american resistence soldier. The glitch annoyied me so badly that I deleted my lvl 20 characters just to figure out the above procedure

Hope the sacrifices were worth it.

Just tried your tip Odyssey, and it worked for me too. Tried 2 guys and they both seem to be working fine, even when I switch my Xbox off and on again. Hopefully it will be patched soon, 'cos my plan is to have different guys with different combinations of perks, classes, appearances and voices. Thanks!

This has happened to me, but only in the odd match. Sometimes when I play a match, and switch teams, my accent will switch, and so will my characters outfit, but if I play another match after that, it'll be fixed.

Forget my previous post. I've checked my characters, and they're all sounding the same Irish (O'Hare) voice. I deleted them, and tried the same thing again and it worked until I changed character then changed back again. This glitch is really starting to get on my nerves!

Did you change your character through the character selection screen option from the customisation menu after already selecting a character from the initial prompt, or did this happen after you selected a character from the initial character selection prompt after pressing start and switching characters by signing out or turning of the profile or powering down the console?

I read over my post again and edited it to make it more clear, i'm starting to think It might be safer to turn the console off before swapping characters at the initial prompt after the press start menu. I'm also suspect about the game's auto-save function because it seems to detect the last character played and set the focus upon that character so that next time you load the game that character will be selected (like a continue game function); so if it save this It might cause the glitch, thus it might be unavoidable

To be more clear on my part. The game starts with the press start menu, after that you are taken to the initial character selection screen, select a character and you get the three options to select, customise, or delete, after selecting the character, you got to the main menu, select the customise character and you get a sub menu with options to go and edit weapon attachments, clothes, and abilities. In this menu, at the bottom, is a option called "character selection" If you use this option (as opposed to the initial prompt after pressing start) the glitch occurs, transposing your selected characters voice to all subsequently selected characters, and then reseting to a random new character voice upon restarting the console.

So if this glitch happen on an initial load I'm afraid that their is pretty much no avoiding the glitch then :(.

Though, come to think of it, I'm yet to test using a usb memory stick to save the character profiles. That way, if you create a character, you can atleast archive them to a memory stick as a backup, that way, if the glitch happens, you can rescue the character, and maybe the glitch will be corrected. Additionally, it would be advisable that players only put the character they want to play as on the hard-drive, so that way only 1 character is on their harddisk at a time, thus may prevent the corruption when moving between multiple characters.

I really hope this gets patched soon.

Ive been struck with this bug as well. hope the patch fixes it as soon as it's DL'd because I've already created enough characters just trying to avoid the problem; I don't really want to have to make any more.

I've tried selecting a character by signing out and back in again, switching off then on again and through the character select screen. Each time it didn't work I recreated them and started again. I've got L.A. Noire, and Red Faction Armaggedon when it's out, so I'm just going to wait to see if a patch comes out. Can't be bothered trying different ways to get a character to have the voice I pick, and don't want a bunch of guys all sounding the same. Pity really since it's a majorly fun game.

And to think that all this could have been avoided if they didn't make tattoos or voices a permenant customistation option. :banghead:
