Accessing Object Reference Window from Cell View?

Post » Thu Mar 10, 2016 9:42 pm

The Cell View Window lists objects in the cell on the right side, but I can't figure out how to bring up the Object Reference Window for the specific object from there. Clicking on the object highlites it in the Render Window and you can click on it from there, but when there is a crapton of tiny objects in a cell you want to edit (to increase weight of a container or remove ownership) its kind of a pain to have to click on them all in the render window since small objects are difficult to find and click on.

Be much easier if you could go directly from the Cell View menu directly to the Object Reference Window, but after some hacking around and searching the web for CS hotkeys, I cannot seem to figure it out. Is there a trick to it?

Once your object is selected in the render window, push T. It will place you on the top of the object.

Yeah I was making a little joke since I had asked what the trick was. :goodjob: Looking at the Morrowind CS, it seems a lot simpler than Skyrim or Oblivion, but I think its going to be more fun to use, once I get the hang of it.

You can also double click on an object ID from the list. That'll automatically focus the render window and center the object on screen.

Yes, but not on top of it. ;)

@Turija: maybe you should try F2?

Imho newer kits aren't any bit more complicated than CS, in fact I found a lot of things to be much more convenient to use than in Morrowind's CS. The only thing that's truly hard and requires learning is scripting, given that you've never coded before, and I haven't, so yeah, that one's a pita for me in whichever editor I mess around with. :P Rest of the editor has a really low learning curve.

Seems simpler and better organized to me. In Skyrim, for instance, the Ingestibles are haphazardly mixed in with other clutter items in several different lists and locations are based on block and sub block number. In Morrowind, everything is neatly organized in alphabetical order. There is also a lot less information on the screen, so it's not the information overload you get with Oblivion or Skyrim CS. Not saying Morrowind is more convenient or has more features, on the contrary, actually. Just that it's simpler.

F2 and T are not helping. I still can't click on some stuff Like the spoon and the cup on forum glinith's table. I can click on the fork just fine but when I try to click on the cup or the spoon, all I get is the table or the light. I click on the cup in cell view and I can see it with the red green blue box around it in the render window. But no how matter how I rotate the view before I try to click on it, I just get the light.

Looks like I have to move the light out of the way to be able to click on the cup. But then I need to move it back to the right spot.

Is there no way to access the window for the cup without moving stuff around in the room and then trying to get it all moved back into the right spot? All I want to do is remove ownership.

You can use 'M' to toggle "Markers" visiblity, then the light shouldn't be much of a problem.

Just a small tip if you're trying to re-assign ownership for multiple items at a time. Select all items you want to change in the render window by ctrl-clicking or dragging a window around the objects. Once all are selected, double click one of the references to open a ref window. Check the box for "extra data" and then assign an owner. Once done, click the "apply to selection" button at the bottom and you'll change all selected objects at once.
