I've accidentally killed Parthurnax. What now?

Post » Tue Aug 20, 2013 12:04 pm

I hope the title spoiler is allowed since this is a spoiler forum and all... If not, please delete this thread.

I detest having any sort of restrictions in sandbox games so I've installed this mod called 'kill everyone' that enables anyone to be killed. I'm also a hardcoe gamer who never keeps more than one save at a time.

Since I've only recently finished playing Morrowind, I was somehow thinking that killing an essential NPC will bring up a message of warning, which was not the case when I slew Parthurnax as soon as it appeared at the throat of the world. I don't even know how I killed him; doesn't he have invulnerable flag?

Anyway, upon not being able to find Parthurnax at the throat of the world, I just decided to do the quest later. and that's why I don't have a save before the incident.

Is there any way(using console perhaps) I could revert the damage? I tried to revive him using the id I found from Wiki but he won't talk to me. Any help is appreciated.

If Paarthy didn't show up at the Throat of The World when he was supposed to, then your game is probably borked.

Sure, but you installed a mod to remove his invulnerable flag because you want to be able to 'kill everyone' without any restrictions. Either live with your choices or maybe you want some restrictions after all and play from the beginning without the mod?

He's essential normally, but that mod you installed obviously changed that.

Your game is hosed: start over. You might want to think about keeping more than one save: this game is really buggy and it's very helpful to be able to go back to previous saves if trouble crops up.

You reload a previous save, and pray to Stendarr that the gods will forgive you.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy is severed.Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate,or persist in the doomed world you have created.

Sorry, but I agree with the others, without a save to go back to, your game is pretty well hosed with regard to the main quest. Start over or live with not doing that quest at all.

if you despise having restrictions, so you installed the mod, you are gonna have to live with the choice you made....

I find the "I hate having Restrictions", and the "a choice I made wrecked the game, how can I fix it" to be somewhat of a contradiction...

The warning didn't display for all 'essential' NPCs in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Essential_NPCs so it was still possible to bork the MQ.

And he is marked Essential..... normally.

^ This. The OP installed the mod and attacked the character - consequences ensued. Difficult to see how it's an 'accident'... :ermm:

Maybe you can still be best friends with the Blades?

Pretty much this. Why install a "Kill Anything" Mod if you weren't willing to accept the fact you can ultimately break the game with something like it? For that matter, why install a "Kill Everything" mod to begin with? Unlike Morrowind, the Radiant AI routinely puts important NPCs in dangerous situations. Heck, with that kind of mod I'm shocked you got that far into the Main Quest before the game broke. Delphine and Esbern made it all the way to Sky Haven Temple without being slaughtered, huh?

See, that's the reason the Essential Flags exist. To keep important NPCs alive to progress the narrative forward. Why were the Essential Flags put into place? Because people kept crying they kept killing important NPCs while they treated a RPG like a GTA clone.

Try these :

Player.PlaceAtMe 0003C57C 1

PRID 0003C57DResurrect 1Enable

Based on UESP, the first should spawn a fresh version of him, which should do everything the original did; the second should resurrect the original, if for some reason the first doesn't work.

True. I used to have a 'no essentials' mod, but I unistalled it because I couldn't even get Delphine to Kynesgrove in one piece.
