According to the strategy guide

Post » Sun Sep 05, 2010 2:13 am

According to the strategy guide where it has each characters health the light is said to have 120 hp and the barnett long rifle is said to do 125 damage meaning one hit kills on light body types, the guide does say that the tables may have changed due to balancing the game but i feel like hitting a 125 is a whopping amount of damage and should not be taken lightly as most people seem to take sniping in this game. Just throwing it out there so feel free to comment but i think this shows sniping is going to be more effective than some seem to believe.

And for quite some time.

However, unbuffed Lights shouldn't occur too often, what with Battle-Hardened and any decent kind of Medics playing the game.

If you get OHK'd as a Light, it's because you were a tactical idiot and had it coming, end of story.

exactly, if it's a medic he just stands back up. that rifle had want to hit the speedy little bugger too or else it's lack of ammo, maneuvering, and reload speed will get you dead just as quickly. the vids i've seen show on target smg's and assualt weapons will kill extremely fast making "sniping" more risk than reward.

little recoil and spread has made every weapon as accurate as a snipers tools. it'll be like an objectives version of unreal tourni 3. i'll be in heaven.

Thats not counting pip buffs. A buffed light would walk away from it. it would put also only put him at half HP if he had all possible health buffs. It's balanced out so its fine.

I'm fairly certain that the rifle has to buffed as well; a pretty rare occasion, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Then idiot medic shouldn't be playing Medic, considering Medics are the lifeblood of the team and have to play the least selfishly of all the team. He should either play Operative where he doesn't have to work with his team so much OR go back to his Call of Duty. :flamethrower:

I say go back to CoD because and idiot is an idiot. If they played Op then their idiotness will not reveal the enemy position for everyone.

It has been said by Devs that Light bodytype,UNBUFFED can be one hit kill. That doesn't mean you can just camp and w8/praying that u'll see a light unbuffed.

I at least as a medic will buff all my teamates before everything else.So...

Huh, kinda nice to know it's going to be capable of the odd and very infrequent OHI every know-and-then.

Just trying to point out that everyone is saying sniping is going to be worthless but the fact remains they are going to be great support weapons and having someone take down a chunk of your health at the beginning of a firefight would give them a major edge in taking someone down. Although if you are trying to snipe someone when you are out in the open by yourself you are an idiot that deserves to die anyway but popping off a shot right going into cover and switching weapons will cause you to win more than lose.

First, as far as I'm concerned a OH incap is a OHK for the purposes of this game. Saying nothing will kill you in one hit seems misleading since most people find being down and out to be dead. Yes, a medic can revive you and if you're a medic you can revive yourself, but it could just as easily go the other way at that point.

Second, I think it's a useful bit of information to now have statistically laid out for us, so thanks for the info. I hope it remains accurate.

Third, the majority of the responses seem a bit dismissive of the possibilities involved here. Just as often as a medic may have you buffed the shooter may also have his weapon buffed (snipers aren't stupid) and we don't know what the damage relation will be at that point.

I have no problem if you aren't worried, but I do hope that doesn't mean that this will become an issue of focused complaint if it turns out in favor of the sniper.

Yeah the strategy guide offers a lot of helpful stats with the guns and classes the light has 120 hp the medium has 140 hp and the heavy has 180 hp. The jump from medium to light is only 20 so really lights are not going to be as underpowered as they are thought to be. So maybe this will help people choose there classes because even as a heavy you really do not have that much extra health so i would not get in that mind set because when you are dropped just as quickly you should not get mad.

Not to mention we also know that Battle Hardened is available as soon as you start, and if you go through the tutorials, you start at level 2, so you can start out with a health bonus that stays when you switch to a Light body. Which means you'll be 120 + whatever bonus Battle Hardened gives (probably more than 5). Problem solved.

Pretty sure battle hardened gives 20 extra HP. Though don't quote me on that...

I realize you all want it to not kill you all the time, but I feel obligated to point out that it says base damage is 125, headshots do more damage. So assuming the number is accurate it will drop an unbuffed light with a shot to the body as well, and the head shot may do enough to drop a light with certain buffs. Add to that the buffs that can be placed on the gun and it may be able to kill a buffed light when appropriately handled.

battle hardened is a tier 1 universal ability to add 1 pip to your health. OHK on lights will be rare.

Yeah, if you're rolling a light, it seems like a must-have skill. 17% increase in health is nothing to scoff at. I imagine the skill becomes slightly more optional as you up your weight-class, but I still don't expect to see many level 20 players without it.
