Accounts of an Arthropod

Post » Fri Jul 02, 2010 3:54 am

After Slave to the System I thought I couldn't get any more zanier. Took some time before I thought of another fresh idea. Hope you enjoy my newest addition to the Fallout fan fics!

----------

Greetings and salutations to anyone that is reading this. Looks like you found my journaling and accounts. And my goodness?you aren't immediately using them to wipe your ass either. There's still hope that there are some sophisticated beings present on this parched piece of earth. Well don't be alarmed then, continue reading.

You are probably first wondering, by the title of course, how the [censored] can a radroach think let alone write of his adventures. I'll give you a straight up answer. I wasn't an arthropod to begin with. Now this part may same breathtaking but please stay firmly planted to the ground. This cockroach was a cherub!

What? A cherub? An angel? There's a god? Of course there is simpleton. Believe what you want, doesn't mean you won't stop reading this will you? Anyway, before all turned woeful, I was just chilling out in Heaven with all my pals. Earth seemed okay from a distance. Alright, I'll admit we were receiving more prayers than normal, but everyone goes through their share of hardships right? So suddenly the world turns into this massive fireworks display. Apparently it only lasted two hours so we expected it was a world wide celebration for something. At least that's what I thought. The G-man knew what was up though. He knew that something unbeknownst to us had happened.

It's been a few hundred or so years later and business had dropped slightly. What happened to the faith? The G-man was a bit deterred and wanted to get some sense of the matter. You'd think that he'd be omniscient enough to do it himself. So what does he do? Why he gets some of his best cherubs, including me, to go down there and account for what happened and if need be spread the word of God. Going down as an angel would be too noticeable, so let's go down as the most [censored] thing imaginable? Perfect logic no?

So here's this little literate radroach, looking to make some sort of positive impact on this brave new world. I'll soon discover more than I can imagine. All I can write is that you humans had to have some kind of party for all of this to happen...

After reading Slave to the system, I started reading this with high expectations, and I have to say your imagination and thoughts are just off the scale, and did not dissapoint.

I mean, not just a radroach that wrote a journal, but one that used to be an angel.

Well done

Here's the next section of the story. It is rather short but I've been busy lately. Wanted to at least give you a little than none at all. Enjoy and please tell me what you think. I know its not a lot to judge off of but try anyway.
----------

I finally make it to solid ground. It feels pretty odd to be an insect I'm not going to lie. But being one the size of a house cat is even weirder. Did bugs change significantly since the last time I've been around? I guess evolution is something I got to take heed to. I'm sure the G-man wouldn't mind. Taking the first scurries on this surface feels odd. Something isn't right about it. Getting some gut feeling here. Literally my gut is feeling a bit achy from something in the air. I trudge on...

Some tarnished buildings are in sight. Probably was a big party going on. Low and behold however a positive image. There is a giant statue of this innocent looking man carrying an ice cream cone. It cannot be that bad right? Of course it looked a little worse for wear but still, nothing like optimistic reinforcement. Crawling a little farther and it looks like a little shopping mall. It cannot be what I think I see?oh my God.

Cages of people? Slaves? Did I just get transported back to the 1800's? Had the Emancipation Proclamation even been enacted yet? I know the G-man wanted me to go to Earth but not back in time. I didn't know humans could be so?could be so?so?lazy. I have to find this source of laziness. Perhaps everyone is busy socializing and must need these indentured servants to do the work for them. Something like that could make sense. I have to take a deeper look for myself though. There must be a big and fantastic party going on. I wonder why I wasn't invited...

I apologize for not getting some new parts in. I know they're short but they are more like journal entries. If they need to be longer then please comment on it or if you have any other ideas or remarks in regards to the story. I hope you enjoy!
----------

The trepid underlay of the building greeted me with wide arms. I scurried past the walls of brick and plaster to find a small hole in the workings. This little peephole granted me access to a rather strange sight. Burly men, dressed in armor and rags, were being gay and merry with festivities. They shouted and cheered and raised their brews to good times (I suppose good times). What was this? Guns and bandoliers abound their brawny backs? Surely they weren't using it for?umm? pest control. For what am I but a mere oversized cockroach? What harm could I really do onto these beasts of men? Who would really want to eat me anyway? Some disgusting and twisted people, that's who would. Something that also came to my surprise was a game of beer pong set up on one of the tables. It had to be a celebration that caused that ruckus a long time ago. Of course you'd probably wonder how an angel, the most infallible of all celestial beings, would know about beer pong. I'll only let you find out once you get to those pearly gates. It isn't that bad once you get up here.

I exited this little town, Paradise Falls as I'm told (don't ask me how), and headed in whichever direction my spirit lead me. The planet had become a weird place: An indistinguishable palette of bleakness and weariedness. Funny thing was?everyone goes around like nothing's wrong. Maybe I'm crazy. Who am I to write anyway? Some don't even believe I exist. I could be a figment of your own imagination. What could my opinion really do to sway you? Well I suppose since you're reading this I swayed you to some degree. I might as well keep your attention otherwise. Rambling won't do much. The oddities are about to transpire.

Another section is added. Please type to me what you think so far. I know it's rather slow but at least it's something.
----------

I never realized how slow an oversized cockroach was. Weren't they supposed to be some of the fastest insects on earth? The weight must've hindered their speed in a major way. When did all cockroaches become obese and huge? It was another question in my laundry list of queries. Why couldn't the G-man just tell me the answers in the first place? Did I truly have to roam around 'disguised' as an insect? What much could I learn? Eh?not much would get done. Not that much was getting done anyway. All I've learned was that people now carry guns and could care less about doing manual labor or keeping up with their tidiness. What much could I learn? Crap, think I repeated that sentence. No matter.

It took some time slowly descending down a hill until a distant screeching sound came into focus. Finding the source of this sound was strenuous. Could it be a predator or some belligerent? The sound continued in a timed pattern, edging closer to my location. A nearby barrel gave me shelter as I scurried along inside. For the first time since I appeared on this soil I felt afraid. A gargantuan shadow appeared from the crest of the hill. What abomination was about to befall on my location? I had to ask?

The most annoying noise came from a steel humanoid like thing. Who was this guy anyway? He trudged down the hill, his rusted steel suit producing the bitter sound. Was he supposed to be a knight with a gun or something? It was the most ridiculous and dare I write pathetic sight I've seen. I think I seriously went back in time. This has to be a joke. Where are you Gabriel? Peter? Had I been duped?

More small chunks for your viewing pleasure. I need comments! Anything would only help me out. Thanks and do enjoy!
----------

If the lord only knew what the world had come to. I swear, it looks like a long term Halloween party out here. I've seen some people dressed in this seemingly tribal garb and running amuck. Get this: one was even wearing a tire! They dressed to impress. From men of the Amazon, Knights, to even soldiers and cowboys. It's a surprise I haven't seen a princess yet. Is this what people have been doing all this time? They got lazy and decided to have an elongated Halloween party? Doesn't seem like that bad of an idea to me. But what do I know? I'm just a cockroach.

There were some things, legit no less that I did find out though. The groups that contested around this place were the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel. This flying robot gave me the details. Too bad he didn't have much to talk about. But anyways, these two groups, you guessed it, have opposing views. When did it get so cheesy lord? You'd think it'd be harder to just get along or something? Do they need a reason to dress up like this? It isn't some?live action role playing?is it? It pains me to know the answer and what that even is. I'll stop writing now.

I apologize for my absence. Didn't realize many wanted more. Well I'll give more then. In bite sized portions I might add. Do enjoy and thanks for the support!
----------

So I'm not exactly coming to any conclusions here. The world is a little messed up so people have to dress up and remain entertained? What sense does that make anyway? I have to get to the bottom of this. Then again...what do I care about these people anyway? I mean I'm an angel for goodness sake. I could get squished and just respawn up in the sky. Maybe that's what I should do. It's getting rather boring down here. What can people do for fun around here? Shoot things? Where's the fun in, oh wait a minute, I guess that could be fun. Ah crap. I hope the G-man isn't reading this. Uhh...shooting things in video games, that's completely fun in a(n) Catholic/Christian/Islamic (did I miss any?) way!

Besides my attempt at being funny, I managed to find a 'town'. It looked more like something some kids would make for fun. Was it a town of kids? Not quite. Had the world gone soft? When are advlts now wanting to build forts out of sheets of metal and planes? When did they get that free time anyway? I scurried around the inside of the place, staying discrete under some sewer or water pipes. What awaited me was the presence of a huge bomb. How it wasn't activated was the least of my worries or time or anything for that matter. I finally had the truth to all of this. It made little to no sense but I have to write it down anyway. It was a pretty peculiar revelation.

So all of this bleakness and destruction is caused by bombings. Atomic bombs I'd assume. So the whole world is basically like this because some country decided to attack one country which in turn lead to them blowing up the entire world? Are you serious? I knew humans could be stupid but really? Am I on a game show or something? Is this really a joke? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You are definitely welcome A. Tair. I appreciate that people are taking the time out of their day to comment. Really means a lot to me. Here's another section! Yay!
----------

So I write this in an unusaul predicament. Much has happened since my last writing and it hasn't been the least great. Here a radroach was, crawling through the same cut and paste decripit landscape. This wasn't like the other daily scurries. Something seemed out of place. I could feel it in the air tonight. It wasn't Phil Collins but a scrawny marksman. Great, someone wants to finally put a bullet in my head to get some experience points. The thing was that he blatantly picked me up from my shell. Who the hell was this guy? Did he want to keep me as a pet? Oh lord...that was it.

He carried me all the way back to his shack on a scenic cliff. I eyed the cage that he placed me in. Blood and guts littered the tattered plywood floor. Did this guy expect me to eat this? Oops, I forgot one thing...had a cage mate: another radroach already captured and retaining some comatose like state in the corner. And the worst thing out of this? The man has the balls to call me Fluffy. Fluffy?! What kind of man would call an insect Fluffy?

I guess one that has been exposed to vast amounts of radiation. I couldn't take it in here. Captured by an insane sniper who called insects Fluffy and Jitters. I've always wondered if insects could commit suicide. They always seem to pop up in Heaven so I guess not. I mean do they really do any bad things? Maybe it's the lack of thumbs. Nah, insects are gentle optomists. It has to be...

Another 'account' has been added. I would really like some feedback at this point. Thanks and enjoy!
----------

It was hard being stuck in this prison. Only made me realize how vulnerable and weak these damn radroaches were. They were larger than their predecessors but gained little to no special abilities. Where were you on that one Jesus? I guess the radiation only can help an assorted few. A day had past by and nothing extraordinary had happen. Pretty boring eh? I mean I know you're reading this from some dangerous location and probably wouldn't want to die reading an extremely boring story. I know I wouldn't want to. Hmm...did I really write 'hmm'?

That other radroach, Jitters, wasn't much of a help either. No matter how much I tried to 'talk' to him he (or she?) just wouldn't comply. Insects weren't going to heaven because they were gentle optomists. No...because they didn't do jack [censored]! Did I just curse? Bah, I'm becoming indifferent to everything now. What standards do I have to live up to anyway? How can a radroach be morally good if it cannot do anything? Uhh, this is so terrible. Living here can make a man depressed. But even more evident; it's so boring! Trying to be funny isn't funny anymore!

It had to come to an end sooner or later. The final account of an Arthopod. I know it might feel short but it's intended to be. Please tell me what you think and do enjoy!
----------

[Censored] [Censored] [Censored]...I cannot seem to write a coherent sentence without some sort of blabbering cursing or dribbel. Boredom and mediocrity can drive a cockroach insane. Can you believe it? An insect going insane? You probably thought that they only had worthless meat and experience points inside them; didn't you? They have souls god damnit! Look at me, I'm damning the G-man. Haha...probably won't be allowed back upstairs. Funny how the afterlife works.

But what had I learned from all of this? Absolutely and positively nothing! I knew humans were stupid. I knew they could be 'morally impure' at times and were not perfect. Heck, I think a bum could mubble that to 'ya. This was just the epitome and sheer extreme of the revelation. My goodness, this was not the revelation that God wanted. His son wasn't even ready yet. We have to be quicker sometimes. Hehe...now he did make them in his image. Great, now I'll definitely be kicked out for that. This thing doesn't even have an eraser. Where's the point in a pencil without an eraser? Aww man.

For the past four days I've been starving in company of an idiot known as Jitters. Our 'owner' hasn't even come back in those four days and I can safetly assume that he's dead. Damn, I cannot even jump over this little fence or anything. Weren't cockroaches supposed to be able to hop pretty high? Why hasn't radiation done anything positive for cockroaches? I mean Jesus Christ, they make bears friggin' killers and horseshoe crabs titans. Flies even are able to shoot poison globs at people. Poison globs! It ain't easy being a cockroach.

Woah there...I hear some movement from outside the shack. Perhaps that sniper? Nah...I got some weird vibes coming from this cat. He could either be some really good guy or beelzebub incarnate. Not too sure what this dude is. You know what, I don't care who he is. I'm not going back to Heaven and I'll probably be stuck in purgatory or something. My aggression is going to go all out on this [censored]. I'll show 'em the true power of a cockroach! Well I might as well end my story then. Damn you're a resilient [censored]. You seriously read through all of this? I'm touched, I truly am. Now [cesnored] off.
