Ace's Theatre shows pre-rendered?

I'm just curious because the dancers look like they have fluid animations, plus the lighting is different. Usually you can't see distinct shadows on NPCs.

Fluid animations?
Well I think... Pete Hines? Or was it Jason Bergman... Anyway, someone at Bethesda admitted that they aren't the best at animations and that there are several studios out there that does them much better.
So, maybe Obsidian is better at animations?

If you're referring to the tv ad I believe that was in game footage. In the bottom right of the screen was a notification of what the images were. Sometimes it would say "Not in game footage" like on the sniper shot, and others it would say "In game footage from PC" or some such. The last notification I saw was in game footage so I think that was in fact in game footage and Obsidian has simply improved on the animations.

No, it isn't pre-rendered. It's shot in game, Obsidian and Bethesda can make some "fluid" animation when it doesn't move around the enviromment. The biggest problem in their animations is vertical movement. Other than that they can make some good animations. And NPCs can cast shadows, also anyone can make a great lighting in a room with GECK.

This, and the sniper shot ,in case someone thinks it's pre-rendered, was on VATS.

Ehhh, I'd say it's prerendered in the way that the Ghoul who sells Aqua Cura is pre-rendered.

No that wasn't VATS. Watch the ad again. During that sequence on the bottom right of the screen it says that that is not in game footage. The fact that there is so much flash out of the barrel and that the bullet punches a hole through that sign should tip you off.

That ghoul is not pre-rendered. He has a set of animations that he cycles. As I understand it, pre-rendered means that a motion sequence is made as a video file on a computer to play at specific times or just whenever, like some in game cinematics for various games. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so.

Prerendered is when your system is not actually processing what you see on screen. So basically, it's a video. Like the person above me said.
