Acquiring mages towers and Count's castles: will the standar

Post » Fri Nov 19, 2010 4:37 pm

Frostcrag Spire was a marvelous tower of Wizardry, complete with an alter for the summoning of Frost Daedra Atronachs and teleportation devices, a Wizard's dream, somethign to allows your Archmage to be a little less jealous of the lesser mage Fathis Arnen (though, until I can station Dremora Valkynaz throughout my lair the way Fathis did, despite his conjouration skill being FAR less than mine, I will still not be satisfied with my in game options!! ). . . Battlehorn was a fortress for the self made warlord to beat his bloody chest over etc. . . And both of them required a working live account for consoles, mods, DLC etc. etc. etc., when they probably should have come as unlockable material in the original game. So what do you think? Will Bethesda treat us right in the Sorcerer Citadel, Conjourer's Castle, and Fighter's Fortress department. . . or are they going to bleed us slowly via DLC, for those who have all the proper system links to even acquire the DLC in the first place?

After they actually put a price on Horse Armor, is there even any question?

yeah they gonna be giving us alot of stuff in the game, while like when they they intro'd tes MW and fallout 3 New content. They will prob be alot of new stuff they will add later on dlc's, the usual traveling to new places and new spots which were just mountains will turn into dlc caves with content which we couldn't find in normal game. In which in the next game they will give it too us for the normal game. The cycle of normal game, get a dlc version to make that extra dosh!

And don't forget Pete effectively confirmed mounts by making that quip about "how would we sell horse armor" as well.

Like it or not, DLC is the new business model.

Games - including Beth games - will soon be like cars. The only thing you get for the list price is the base model. ANYTHING more than that will be an option and cost extra.

I honestly never bought into the Class dedicated towers in the DLC. I could really care less on if they give me a Fighter House as I"m never in it.

just a place to store my stuff.

This seems like a huge complaining party. I've never seen someone so angry at DLC. And could the poll options be any more biased? Where's the "I don't care if it's DLC or not" option?

They were under time constraints with Oblivion and were pushing to get as much done as they could. They've said that about 1000 times. They obviously didn't have time to include those things in the original game.

That is absolutely Disgusting! Probably true, but no less disgusting because of it. Filthy, nasty, dirty brigands. The Kajitt bandit who got in my face making ludicrous demands on the highway(bridge) had more class and honour.

I didn't say I hated the system, I reckon it makes sense. I never really care too much unless its a map dlc, then it makes sense because were getting a new part of the world which I reckon is worth its weight in moeny.

Come no Velorien. The overwhelming majority of topics in this forum, especially poll topics, fall into one of four categories: Complaints, wish lists, inqueries related to the prior pair, and praise sessions of thing people did like, that would quickly turn into complain sessions were those things removed. The other smaller percentage is information posts and lore debates.

It isn't that I am so angry with DLC in general, but I am angry if things that could easily have been in the game, and which any fool would know many players would enjoy in the game, is left out "accidentally on purpose" to be sold later at an additional cost. And here is a further issue, not every one has the proper channels for dowloading DLC unless it is put into an in store expansion pack, so there is also that to consider, even if such a group is a minority.

They're all free with mods. You can make as big of a tower as you want.

Please remember that not everyone has mods. We PC gamers aren't the only people on this site.

With Softworks in charge as the publisher of course they will. They could always do what CDProjeck is doing right now by having their DLC's free.

Well then your complaints are totally without merit. As I said, Oblivion was made under big time constraints and they shoved in whatever they could. They weren't something that could easily have been in the game. They were not withheld so that they could sell them later for more money.

It's funny how people just assume that every company is money-hungry and doesn't care about anyone. I think it's obvious if you pay attention that Bethesda isn't like that with the games they develop. They try to make the best game they can.

Bethesda cares a lot more about fans than any other company I've seen. That title used to belong to BioWare, but then EA happened to them.

Was Oblivion complete without the class specific lairs/homes/hide-outs? Did Bethesda create dlc that had to be included in the game to finish the main quest?

So you're complaining about things that were nice, but not necessary to play the game. Until Bethesda sends out their ninjas to rob you at sword point, there really isn't a lot of point to complaining. For people who want a disc version for whatever reason, a request letter to the Community Managers for Bethesda might do more than complaints in the forums.

Until the game comes out, this is sort of pointless; there are no classes in Skyrim. Since you were responsible for building your home in Morrowind, and in the unmodded vanilla Oblivion you could buy a house in every city, I don't see them changing it to "dlc only homes" in Skyrim.

I'm also not seeing the "constructive criticism" and possible solutions to the problem. This seems to be a complaint only thread, and those usually don't work out well. It can stay open as long as it stays on topic and within the forum rules.

Link to the official announcement?

If there isn't one, can we keep the sarcasm on a factual level please? Rumors get started from the most off-hand remarks.

Ahh, but Ninja's aren't required. You have forgotten the master stroke of the dope pusher. Give your target a sample. . . and when they have had it, and they are thouroughly hooked, chasing the rush of the horse, and chemically dependant. . . that's when you charge exponentially. Lol.

Why does every poll try to put words in everyone's mouths? And why are there so many polls for topics that don't really need them?

Anyways, with regards to having homes, I want to actually have a reason to give a [censored] about owning a building. Given the fact that the new crafting systems require a static crafting spot to be used, I think that's one reason right there, but that's more of a basic thing. If you have the cash you should be able to get a small estate and actually have a use for it. You can have an alchemy/food garden that you need to tend, or you can hire people to tend it for you. You can set up a small business at your home to engage in trade and recoup the costs of maintaining your home. Maybe raise animals for food, leather, ingredients, etc. The money it can actually generate should be small but significant. Otherwise it would just be a ridiculous way to never have to worry about money again.
