Acrobatics and athletics

To be honest I didn't play much fallout 3, but I think I understand how the perks will work. In previous elder scrolls there were skills governing your ability to jump and move quickly, acrobatics and athletics. Will these skills return, and if not do you think we can get perks that effect our movement speed and ability to jump? Will climbing be possible?

There's been a couple quotes about this, something like "there's no more agility to level up so you won't been jumping around everywhere." I think they meant no more speed attribute, but maybe they meant no more acrobatics skill. My guess: attributes have been removed, acrobatics has been combined into athletics, and athletics will affect jumping height/length as well as having perks for jumping. I'm not gonna hope for climbing and get disappointed when it's not in.

I had heard attributes weren't in Skyrim. I decided right there not to buy it (ok, over reaction).

Now I've heard it's just speculation, I'm happy. :D

There's no real confirmation, but I'm pretty sure they will be gone or in the background because they are getting rid of derived stats. Health, magicka, and stamina are determined by choosing one to boost at level up (nothings really been said about encumberance though). Plus the way they've described the menu system combined with the one screenshot we have of the skills screen doesn't give me hope that attributes will be in.

Honestly I would love attributes if they actually made them seem to have real effects and uses in the game. I would want real, attribute based challenges (e.g. for Strength there could be forcing open locks, swords stuck in stones, lifting/throwing rocks, unarmed sneak attacks, caber toss, arm wrestling, etc). But instead Strength in Oblivion didn't really do anything beyond deriving encumberance/fatigue and affecting melee damage. If they can't find a good way to implement attributes and make them feel really useful then I don't really see the reason to keep them.

honestly, if jumping looks the same i wont be mad at all if they get rid of attributes. It looked way to dumb to be jumping on houses with that animation.

Whatever happens I have faith that the devs will do what's right.

If athletics and acrobatics go together I'm gussing this for perks.

The Mark of the Steed - gain 10% in run speed. (3 ranks)

Hardy - Lose 50% less run energy while sprinting.

Khajiit Feet - Take severely less fall damage off high drops.

Acrobat - You now know how to barrel roll and make quick dodges.

Great Trout - Gain 20% speed when swimming in water.

Dashing Leap - While sprinting you can leap even farther and higher.

Something like these.
