I don't really care,big long leaps was cool,but for me,that was the past,in Oblivion.

Skyrim's meant to be a bit more gritty, and leaping around like that seens a bit out of context...

I feel the same way, svcks to lose it, but they will not have a set speed/jump height, their fans would kill them. They'll probably have perks.

Dearly beloved,

We have gathered here to mourn the loss of Acrobatics and Athletics. And while I didn't know exactly why Athletics made me run faster when i already had a Speed attribute... It was still in TES... and I loved it. But It's time to move on... Athletics and Acrobatics would of wanted you to. It's time to remember Acrobatics and Athletics as they were, as part of great past TES games, but also look forward to the future of TES...

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.

What skill related perk tree would acrobatic perks be under?

Been wondering about this myself. Sneak? Security? I have no idea where it will fit. Plus, most of what I've read/heard says that perks are tied to skills...if that's the case, I have no idea what it would be under, if any.

I cant believe someone associates jumping ridculously high with "deep joy".

Actually I've read Todd's explanation about removing Acrobatics and Athletics, he said: "Who creates a character that doesn't run?" Personally, I find it logical. Running and jumping is -always- a part of the game, while other skills aren't (For some people, like pure mages, or pure warriors and such).
I think it won't stay the same though, I think different races will have different speeds/jumps. I think it might be perk-related to level up your speed/jump. And I agree with the whole raising the fatigue to sprint longer as we already know that sprinting drains our fatigue. So I guess we still have all the things we had in Oblivion/Morrowind, but only in a different form, maybe even a better form.

Don't worry about it :) I'm sure it'll turn out fine.

Never really saw much point in them besides having an easy means to level up

I'm guessing you're the person, when asked "What super hero power would you most want?", doesn't respond with "the ability to fly".

I like having very high jumping characters and fast leggs.

Hopefully there will be a perk tree for these types. And not just some race difference.

Since the perk trees are represented by the constellations aka birth signs, I think Steed will have them. Heres hoping.

This is what I think about it...

Sprinting is more realistic than jumping 20 feet in the air and moving 30 mph when your character is jogging. I can't stress how happy I am that they took out Athletics and Acrobatics. Now I don't have to worry about my Nord looking like some sort of physics defying anomaly the higher I level up.

My bad for bumping two Acrobatic/Athletic threads to the top of the page.

Yeah, because if you could fly you would just get shot down by the government :P

The best answers to those questions is "to control time" or "the ability to turn invisible", cause you can actually get away with those.

Moon Jumping =/= TES. TES needs to take a turn in a more realistic direction.

Well that's true. It will definitely be more realistic by not jumping so high. Of course, standing bare-armed in a winter wilderness, fighting a dragon, shouting words that affect your surroundings might affect that realism. At least you'll be able to use a fire spell to warm yourself up.

Please don't compare physics realism to fantasy realism. That's honestly the worst defense I've ever heard...

What rational individual would? Why not choose Telekinesis? Then you could just make your cloths fly or stand on something and make it fly while also being able to essentially control anything you want

Lol...good point. And the correct answer is "more wishes". Wait...that's the response to a different question.

Back on subject: moon jumping =/= your TES. Moon jumping is a large part of mine. That pretty much sums up why we all like this series so much doesn't it? I like different things than you. Hopefully it makes sense why when I hear they are threatening the flexibility of something I like so much, I get concerned about where the series is going.

Again, who knows what they are working on right now. I keep an open mind.

How could I be so obtuse? You're right...I had no idea you had so many forms of realism. Maybe you could put up a chart to make it easier for someone as stupid as I?

Well at least by your standards, I should still be able to enchant some boots to make them "Moon Jump Boots of Extreme Fantasy Realism". There, now we agree.

i have to say this in yet another one of these threads? ah well here it goes again you will likely still be able to jump and not only is there sprinting but i am sure there will be perks that increase speed or fatigue for sprinting. there will also likely be perks that influence jumping ability.

Don't double post. There's an edit button.

On Topic: Realism comes in many different ways. The game should be immersive. What breaks immersion is the ability to jump 60ft in the air without any valid explanation. Not fighting dragons and casting spells. You know why? Because it's believable in context. <- Just my opinion. ;)

I'm sorry jumping high breaks immersion for you. It doesn't for me, and a lack of it will constrain the way I prefer to play the game. No accord will be reached here. Ori out from this thread.

Honestly dunno why this is being discussed so much.

No matter how they handle it, or how much people pine for them, Acrobatics/Athletics are out.

I think the Acrobatics and Athletics will contribute to Stamina. Todd said it himself that they are still in the game, Just in different places, etc mixed with other skills etc Stamina.
