action boy vs grim reaper four leaf clover vs crit banker

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 12:54 am

Since perk points is a rare commodity im asking about peoples opinion who maybe tried one or the other perk which in direct comparison is more worth taking

Action boy gives faster ap recovery but grim reaper has a 25% (later even 35%) of recovering all ap cost following a kill - ouf course they can work very well together, but if you can take only one, which would it be or which one would you prioritize? on the highest lvl grim reaper even refills the crit meter which seems pretty nice...even if its only a 35% chance

Same goes for crit banker vs for leaf clover. Of course you can have both and they work well together, just wondering if you should leaf crit banker be, go for for leaf clover and then fill up crits so fast you dont really need to worry about banking this "sparse commodity" anymore?

Critical banker is one of the best Perks.

Mix with sandman and you can save the criticals for crucial moments

I realise you are asking which one of those perks to choose but your thread title is pretty much the build I am running

( + GunFu & penetrator & mysterious stranger )

Those skills work so well together that I find it very hard to recommend one over another but I'll give it a try

Grim reaper ( aside from beeing too damn loud when it procs ) is very good and it procs alot so I would definetly take that one over action boy/girl BUT they complement each other really well because action boy/girl is for those situation when the reaper does not proc

Pretty much the same can be said for banker vs. clover - I absolutely would prefer banker because it's just to damn useful to store 2 or 3 crits for 100% headshot accuracy + at rank 3 there is a chance to bank an aditional crit every time you bank one BUT then again clover is the way to actually bank a crit so yeah there is that

If I really had to prioritise those perks for me it would be:

banker > reaper > clover > action boy/girl

but like I already said they really work best together - so my advice: just get em all

it'll take quite a few levels but at some point you queue up headshots on let's say 5-6 guys ( this is where GunFu comes in ) with 1-3 crits banked and by the time you emptied your critbank you'll have new ones for the rest and with a bit of luck ( actual luck not the stat ) banker gives you aditional crits - and with the reaper you can just do it again and again and again and should something go really wrong there's action boy - just hugg cover and wait a few seconds and proceed with the killing

Long story short: Every one of those perks is really good but together they are insane

Edit: I forgot - you asked if you should leave crit banker out - that would be insane - if you ask me which perk on the entire chart i consider the best one - it's banker and it's not even close

At one time I spotted a camp of super mutants in the distance and in the middle a suicider - i had 1% hitchance in vats but I had a crit banked - crit the bomb on his arm and the entire camp went up in flames

Action Boy is just faster AP gain. Simple, and not as special of a feat as the other perks. Still, it was one of the first perks I went for and maxed out. Because in the long run it is helpful and it's only two ranks to get through. Grim Reaper's Sprint is just always awesome because you're basically being rewarded for making a kill in VATS, by being able to get more kills in VATS in a vicious cycle of action points. Reaper is probably the coolest of the two, but I feel its important to get Action Boy as early on as possible to maximize that fast AP gain as soon as possible. And again, it's only two ranks to get through.

As for the other two I'd definitely say Critical Banker. More crits to store? Sounds very opportune when you need to save them for those dire moments. Can definitely turn the tide of a battle. That's not to say Four Leaf Clover doesn't compare, but I'd personally take storing crits over faster critical gain. There are other means in the game that can fill crits quickly with certain weapons like Righteous Authority. However, Banker is the only way to bank crits. Then again, you could sort of say the same thing for Action Boy and Grim Reaper's Sprint.

But they're all awesome perks and definitely my favorite ones in the game.

Action Boy - I took it because its only 2 points and you get to enjoy the benefits like 90% of the time unless you're just walking or standing still. AP is important as luck/crit builds revolve around VATS.

Grim Reaper - combat is fast and frantic, and I noticed many times when this procs I am still hiding or dodging bullets while waiting for my next opportunity , so its not that important, but I put one point on it and it procs often enough

Four Leaf Clover - this is great because you can switch to a lower AP weapon like a handgun and spam shots in VATS to quickly max out your crit bar to take another big shot. This alongside Better Criticals are what makes the Luck tree for me.

Crit Banker - I have not taken this but I know exactly what it's about, and IMO it's only useful for those really tough battles. I have no problems one shotting even legendary enemies with a crit to the head, so I decided not to take this perk as it seems to be only useful for about 5% of the time when I actually face a major boss. I will consider taking it later near end game, like after level 35+

Does critical banker only work in vats?

Legion has a good point - early in the game action boy/girl is really good because those other perks need a few ranks before they become really powerful - while action boy/girl is immediate gain early on

So yeah early on i'd actually go for action boy/girl but in overall usefulnes i'd rank it last

That is true. I seem to forget that one crit alone can already do the job well enough as it is. I can definitely see more benefits coming from Clover then.

If we are talking about a single tough enemy - i agree - no banker needed but if you want to drop multiple enemies at the edge of effective vats range before they even get into range banker is just too damn good - maybe it has just become a convenience thing for me

Yeah, I think you wanna get all of them. Action boy is essential simply because it's so ubiquitous. It will always be helpful. And with 2 ranks plus the 3 agility you need from minimum, it gets you +30AP and quick regen. Totally worth it.

5 AGI is the minimum for any build I feel. More I don't think is warranted unless you are going stealth.

Four Leaf clover is "better" but much more of an investment. If you are going for luck at all, you wanna go all out and get all four of the power perks. Or dont get luck at all.

But really, all those perks will do more for you that most others, so get em all.

Crit banker comes up a lot, actually. Rank 1 in particular is huge, as without it you are often wasting shots while you are not wanting one crit on almost dead enemies. Those really do pile up. With 2 crit "slots" you can afford to wait for the right moment.

ranks 2-3 are more for versitility. It's actually quite often you'll have a scrub opponent rushing you and others in the distance... being able to simply blast the close one to bits, and then use the crits you gained to guarantee hits on distant opponents is very useful. And besides, you should not be killing legendaries etc with one crit until late game, I'd hope. So fun unloading 4 crits on that behemoth.

It would be a hard choice between that and four leaf clover... very hard. I'd rather get rank 1 of Banker, and then rank 2 of Clover actually.

i guess in the end it comes down to personal preference and playstyle when considering how to prioritise but getting them all in the end is still the way to go - i certenly don't feel as if any one of those perks was a wasted level up - they are all extremly good and only get more powerful when combined
