My activate button doesn't work!

I try to open doors or talk to people but it doesn't do anything. It may be mod related, I'm doing the tears of the fiend quest and I'm in the cave with Alecia Ethothorn. Are there known causes of not being able to open doors or talk to people anymore?

That has happened to me on ocassion. I just had to restart to fix it. I wonder if it's more of a Hardware and Software forum issue though...

Yea, I thought about that, I was pretty sure some weird mod thing happened with tears of the fiend, I don't think the author is around anymore so I figured I'd post here. If it can be moved to the hardware/software issue forum though that's cool too.

I've tried restarting and doesn't seem to help, I'll keep at it. Thanks.

Well, if anything, I'd guess a menu-related conflict. Does the issue persist if you deactivate TOTF? Make sure the joystick, mouse and keyboard setting in the Oblivion.ini look fine too, I guess...

Well, I'm in the cave investigating with Alecia. We sleep, I have the vision, and afterwards I can talk to her one last time, but then I can no longer activate anything. After the vision I can go through the door and come back, but once I talk to her, no more talking or door opening. So that's why I'm thinking it's caused by the mod, I guess specifically talking to her at that point, so I dunno what to do. I might dig through the cs and try to advance the quest with the console, but doesn't always work and tends to break things.

Well I went through I deactivated every esp, gradually adding them back in. Turns out that it's the see you sleep.esp that's causing the problem. I have no idea why see you sleep would conflict with tears of the fiend. Anyone else notice this? I guess see you sleep isn't critical, but it was kinda nice to see your character get in bed instead of stand to next to the bed while sleeping.

Actually, I think I have heard of such a conflict, or maybe I heard about ToTF conflicting with another mod that is sleep-related. Good job find your conflict though.

Happy gaming!
