Activision chops Guitar Hero and True Crime

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:31 pm

Activision's business model: "Milk it dry, and then toss it out"

Yeah activison is a cancer on the industry.

http://pc.ign.com/articles/114/1148698p1.html seriously?

I dont know if I should laugh or cry, its funny/pathetic just how despetare they are to rehash the same game... Again... And agan.... And again...

Shame to see GH go like this, should have been allowed to die with dignity long ago.

One day CoD will die, and where will you be then, Acti? Up [censored] creek without a paddle is where.

They still have other games, WoW gives them loads of cash. The sad part is, they get money, but had nothing to do with it.

I would like to predict CoDs death, preferabley it happens soon. But the sad part is the genre is getting stagnant and still it gets more popular, than you have other companies trying to get the companies trying to get the CoD fans attention, by maing thier own games more like shooters *cough*Mass Efffect*cough*.

World of Warcraft and Starcraft. I think thats it.

Yeah, but when CoD dies you can enjoy a yearly starcraft reskin, sadly WoW will keep activision alive, I hope one day they loose WoW too, then activision can die, kotick will still be waaaay to [censored] rich. So its not a happy ending, but better for the industry.

Makes sense to close Guitar Hero & True Crime. Now Rock Band has lost its biggest competitor. Plus True Grime: Street Cleaners is no match to GTA..

Unfortunately I do not see COD dying in the near future. Every year hordes of Sheeple flock to the newest iteration, and I do not see that changing.
I have friends like this, trapped in a COD cycle. They buy the new one, play it for a week or two, go back the Modern Warfare 1, repeat next year.
I do not understand what compels them to do this, or why they do not learn from their mistakes.

We have ourselves a CoD fan. :P

I'm indifferent as well. I played True Crime back on gamecube and that was about it.

The next CoD better have everything then if they're going to scrap two games just to open another section. I mean, I want a full open world sandbox online fps that is the best visual game and has realistic explosions that blow up my house and cause shrapnel wounds in my knees.

Guitar Hero is better off dead. It was becoming the music equivalent of Madden, re-released every year (sometimes, more than once a year) without anything being changed :nono:

svcks though, that new True Crime looked pretty cool.

Call of Duty won't die anytime soon. Sooner or later another good Call of Duty will come out.

The thing I dont understand about CoD is it dosent change, why arent people playing games like battlefield ? Destrictive environment, realistic weapons (bullets drop), bg maps, veichles, and they are adding to it, in BF3 you can go prone and they are adding jets. CoD I have only seen minor changes e.g perks, guns and killstreaks.

So you played Streets of LA exactly how long in order to come up with that opinion and "insult?" What's that, you say you just googled it for 10 seconds to see what all the fuss was about, said to yourself "lolol gteea clone" and decided to make this hi-larious, well-researched post? Oh, well, I'm glad you at least googled it before making stupid comments about it, some people don't even bother doing that! :goodjob:

Oh know they axed two series that weren't selling well! I've never played True Crime, but Guitar Hero has been over for awhile now.

That's sad to hear. I don't really know much about True Crime, but I always felt that Guitar Hero was a great and innovative series until Activison dug it up from the resting place that Harmonix had so nicely prepared for it and sodomized it.

... Lt. Gen. McDramapants is notable for carrying his whole squad throughout the conflict, racking up an estimated 1500 confirmed kills, while his squad had a combined total of six. Unconfirmed reports say that the rest of his squad members stood around and emptied entire clips of ammunition without hitting a single enemy, punctuated with cries of "Stay frosty" and "Oscar Mike"
The true identity of this mysterious Oscar Mike remains unknown.

Well in that case I apologize, it seems that it was Rockstar who spent 10 seconds making up that name. Grrrrr. :brokencomputer:

If you post in the Call of Duty thread gtfo. True Crime never could stand up to GTA, it really wasn't that great. I'm surprised there are any fans of it at all. As for Guitar Hero, besides the fact that the guitars were incredibly overpriced, it was a gem for casual gamers. After Rock Band took over, though, there was no need for it.

5 studios on Call of Duty titles, seriously?

Because apparently rehashing the same exact gameplay makes a great game. Sure they added different killstreaks, but otherwise the gameplay is the exact same from game to game. Maybe if they'd stop releasing one a year the games would be better.

I'm glad they're stopping Guitar Hero though.

[censored] you Activision. True Crime was so close to being finished, too. It had a Q2 2011 release date. Seriously, they do nothing to progress the industry.

They have five developers doing Call of Duty and won't even fork over the money to make a True Crime game?!

To Guitar Hero I say, Riposa in pace, si sarebbe dovuto mettere a riposo molto tempo fa il mio amico.

To True Crime, go die Activision. I hope CoD dies soon and kicks you in the [censored]

This. From what could gather during the whole mess of the IW head disaster, Activision isn't really open for sensible approaches. It's money, fast and reliable development.
To me, they were dead when the Guitar Hero wave nearly swallowed Brütal Legend and would have spit it out as Guitar Hero Metal Adventures, or something.

Good thing though that realistically, Blizzard could leave any time they want. The Activision part of the company doesn't meddle with them. Though with their reputation, I guess they would be safe anywhere, really.

*Cries*

No, really, I'm [censored] teary eyed right now. I was looking forward to True Crime almost as much as I'm looking forward to Skyrim. Activision just [censored] canceled Skyrim in my eyes.

Hate... hate... hate... hate... hate... hate...

Thank you Activision, thank you for murdering one of my favorite childhood videogame series, resurrecting it's corpse several years later, teasing me for more than a year with a new installment, then murdering the series all over again.

[censored] you.

Agreed. They did that with Crash Bandicoot a few years ago too, which was another of my fawourite games when I was a kid.
No wonder the industry is becoming less varied each year if Activision keep destroying it. Oh well, time for Bethesda and their minions to fix that.
