Never played True Crime and never cared for Guitar Hero, but I do wonder if Activision has properly thought their cunning plan all the way through. Yes, CoD is making billions of dollars
now. But eventually the cash cow's going to run dry, because that is what Activision does--milks the cow until the udders turn funny colors and fall off. Then they move onto the next shambling zombie of a franchise.
But with GH and True Crime gone, and Tony Hawk likely headed the same way (if it isn't there already), what exactly have they got lined up after CoD? Granted, there's always Blizzard, but something tells me Blizzard's rolling in enough dough from WoW alone to walk away if they wanted. They have no other mega-franchises. And Kotick's business model has always been to ruthlessly grind the creativity out of everything Activision so much as glances at. So...what are the odds that they're going to be able to successfully come up with another blockbuster franchise? I'm wagering slim to none.
They're running out of companies to gobble up, too, so good luck "acquiring" a new cash cow that way.
...Basically I'm hoping that one day I get to break out the proverbial lawn chairs and popcorn and giggle as Activision burns. But I'm not petty.

(Also: does anybody remember the days when EA were the bad guys? Man.)
