I am legitimately frightened by this possibility.

Not likely. They're not a small developer that can just be "bought out".

This might not be so bad. Look at Blizzard, Activision 'partnered' with them and then they churned out another Starcraft and Diablo.

But, like the article mentions, all of Blizzard's games have been hits. Take-Two has a lot of so-so franchises under its roof, and many of the better ones could easily be exploited by Activision. I can't imagine them allowing Take-Two to just stay the course.

Not particularly fond of the idea. The idea of Irrational Games, BioShock and the Mafia series being under Activisions reign doesn't sit well with me.

Its bad, look at true crime and GH. Now They own R*, I enjoy RDR and GTA, they own Bioshock. This would be a TERRIBLE thing for the industy.

Wait thats new ? [censored] Ithought it was some old spyro game I thankfully missed, and trying to get real things into a game is just sad, especially when its cutting out M$ and going straight to activision and probabally costs more.
Kotick needs to leave the game industry, didnt he ruin some kids TV channel before coming here ?

Those games would have been out if Activision wasn't involved. I am just worried now we will have Civ games every year now, just like how Guitar Hero was released.
This will kill the series. Then again, I think 2K may have killed it before Activision gets it's hands on it. But if not, Activision kills what ever it touches.

What was the saying? Activision milks the cow and then it becomes dead? Well something like that.

I'd like to see them try, Take-two won't so easily be bought out. I mean, they own the GTA series, the [censored] GTA series, as well as great new games such as RDR and the upcoming LA Noire, I extremely doubt that they'll be bought out.

Hmmm... Isn't that what they said about Blizzard? I think Blizzard is so much better than Take-Two. If Blizzard can be bought out, the same can go for Take-Two as well. Nothing is impossible now that Blizzard has been sold and bought out. Twice if I rememeber correctly now.

Blizzard wasn't bought out by Activision, they negotiated a merger.

I have been corrected. It was a negotiated merger. But I guess the same can still be said. People said this would never happen when it was first rumoured to happen. So anything is possible. Just because Take Two refused EA's offer and it is more money than Activision is offering right now, times have changed, and they may have to sell now. Different circumstances now.

Just like anything in life, sometimes when you don't sell, you sell for less later. This can be one of those cases.

I want Activision to keep it's greasy paws off of most everything. Especially my precious Civilization.

This would be absolutely awful. But I'm hopeful, EA wanted to take over Take Two some years ago and failed, I'm sure Activision will fail too.

Not really. Blizzard didn't really have any say with the merger. Blizzard has been a part of Sierra On-line since the late 90s, who was later bought by the french Vivendi Games. And it was Vivendi Games and Activision that merged, not Blizzard and Activision, even if they decided to use the Blizzard name as it got a stronger brand value.

No games I really care about there. Maybe the Civilization series, but the last one wasn't impressing me. I still play Civ 4 more because of hot seat.

Edit
Noooo borderlands!!! I reverse my decision. I got bored recently and gave it a chance, got addicted. :P

And yet Activision still doesn't realize why their games will continue to svck. Once they realize that a good game takes at least 2 to 3 years to develop then they will be back to a respectable level but I don't see that happening. The Sharks over at Activision will continue to have the philosophy that money should always come before Gameplay which that philosophy is a very stupid one that will put you out of business one day. I mean look at Bethesda Game Studios and Softworks you don't see them pumping out Elder Scrolls Games every year. Now was Black Ops a failure no but it won't have the same success with the next COD game especially if Activision starts charging for Multiplayer.
