Activities with Companions

I was thinking back to Oblivion and realized that, while it was a tremendous game in my opinion, it did not really let you build a solid relationship with an npc character. I was thinking that it would be great if Skyrim would have the option to build a friendship with some characters, and have the option to do different activities with them. Some ideas ive came up with is:
- A trip to local taverns for discussions.( It would be cool if they told you a different story about them each time you entered the tavern.)
- Combat training with them.
-The ability to take them along for various side quests.
-Horse races.

Yea, more friend like relationships are sorely lacking in TES. I used to just take followers back to my primary residence and then leave them there in order to create the simile of hanging out with friends.

Wont bother me either way if their is or isnt the option for activities, I just thought it would be neat if you had the option to build a close relationship with a character(not a romance). He/she would then accompany you for certain quests, and have the option for various activities.

I would love to play table tennis with them! LOL! Just kidding!

But GTA IV was boring in this aspect. I was hoping I would be moving to the next quest when a character called me just to say he missed me! <_<
It must not be intrusive or repetitious to the user like GTA was.
