Adaptive Armour

Adaptive Armour.

This is a feature i came across in SWTOR, and i have to say - i am a big fan of it.

Its the ability to wear any item you want, and then customise it with enhancements so its statistics are as effective as any other piece of armour would be at your level.

So you can level your favourite "look" with you indefinitely. If you have the right enhancements for it of course. Its a roleplayers dream, and its almost a guarantee for even more unique looking characters. So you avoid the "all high-end players look the same, and nobody feels special anymore" issue.

In my opinion, i wouldn't mind Elder Scrolls Online developers create their own take on this. In fact, i would welcome it!

So the question is: Would you like a similar feature in the Elder Scrolls Online?

I am not a fan of it. And here is why it never worked in SWTOR in the first place. It made crafting pointless in that everything can be earned via quests and the items given out were of better quality. Also you could pvp and buy better equipment with the pvp points earned.

I like the system ESO has right now and after playing with the crafting in the game I can see myself enjoying this more than I have in past MMO's SWTOR included.

You mean you want transmogrification/wardrobe feature. Adaptive armor was transmog for swtor cause the "masters of original copies" and haters of success decided to not follow the wow recipe and invent an "original" version of the same feature except theirs stunk much like a lot of wow-like features that they copied and made them...original (aka kinda like that but svcking balls).

Yes, there is a transmog feature in ESO...I think.

I have even better idea: how about devs add proper vanity slots/wardrobe for all inventory parts?

That way you can look how you would like - and not how your curent equipment is looking.

And no -disguise are bad exchange for vanity slots, i want to be able to choose, not to be forced to change my whole look at once.

Vanity slots would also allow some "casual cloths" to be be weared by players (they are allready in game - on NPCs ;D)

Why the hate? I found the adaptive armor from SWtor to be a great idea and they look excellent! Something for everyone. Its especially cool when you make a new character and are able to get them looking the way you like very quickly. I would love to see this implemented in ESO.

Well you're gonna continue to hate because appearance tabs are pretty much basic features in all MMOs, and I don't see why I should be forced to dump my cool looks for some clown suit just because it has better stats and I'm forced to do it.

I don't see a need for it really since you'll be able to craft pretty much anything using the different racial styles to give you "that look" that you want.

This is not like crafting system curently work. At all.

Im not going to repeat myself (from other more related threads) but crafting items looks are based on tiers of item, you cant really customize it - even in exactly same racial crafting style

The adaptive armour concept was a great concept. Unfortunately, as per usual for that game, Bioware completely buggered it up to the point that it was clunky, hideously expensive, and useless at a certain point. The moment you reached the top of the tier, you'd better hope you were already in a look you could live with for a long time, because the cost to rip everything out to put into a new armour was beyond ridiculous.

I wouldn't mind it being implemented properly in another game, and I can even see how it could work in TESO. Unfortunately, it would require a complete overhaul of how the crafting in this game works, so I can't see it ever being introduced here.

It works for SW:ToR because that's a futuristic game and it really makes sense do disassemble your armor!
We are playing a medieval game, and the tech was really bad :P!
So no :P

Except we have magic now! :mage:

And even better -there is already sort of transmogrification in game >> Convert to Imperial Style option

You can watch it here (about 3:00)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P48LIavBT_E

But even this option is STILL item level bound (so we still need wardrobe/vanity slots) :D

Magic needs science to cast better spells!
Magic doesn't mean everything will be possible... otherwise there would be magic for you to become the Emperor, and they wouldn't be fighting for it!

I believe that you would love a Neverwinter Nights Vanity Craft system! (I WOULD 2)
You could custom create everything in your armor! It was really cool!

Why make it so complicated?

Why not just copy NCsoft's approach in AION with "skinnable" items.

Simply put, you take an item you like the look of to the NPC with the item you want the stats of & merge them. You get your stats & your look. Ofc the one that you used as a skin (look) gets destroyed in the process, naturally.

There is one simple rule to this...the item you skin must be an equivelent item to the one you are skinning onto.

So only a sword can be skinned onto a sword, , heavy armor on heavy armor, cloth on cloth etc.

Because i want to be able to tell what kind of gear a person has by glance, and means alot to MMO's to size up your opponents, but ur just mad because u need to be an MMo fashionista, and u cant in ESO. =P

Thats...one type of gear..and not anything like the original post. so..no?

also notice all the MMO's that have this option...svck...and either went FTP or died completely or...are GW2...and we all know how terrible that game is because of all the "Features" they added that completely took away the MM out of MMO

A firm no. The way armor is implemented here it wouldn't work. And besides theirs cosmetic armor on eso anywhere so this is pointless

If endgame crafting is as powerful as its being stated the robust range of cosmetic racial designs combined with the disguise tab should cover our vanity needs nicely. Especially if the imperial morphing feature gets adapted to all racial designs.

And maybe the rest of us don't want give up cosmetic freedom because you're too incompetent in PvP to play without EZ mode gear identification. Oh and FYI: the disguise tab works in PvP so you're just going to have to svck it up and L2P.
