Wow thank you SOOO much Jester814 for volunteering to do this!!!! You are officially my hero now :). And don't worry about taking your time!!! Even if it takes you 2 months to translate this, it'll still be well worth it. And that's totally fine to leave the generic greetings and the weapon names untranslated. Thank you again so much for doing this :). I'm anxiously looking forward to its completion!!!

Very bad news:

I'm not going to be able to translate the mod to english :(

I got maybe 10% through translating the dialogue today and decided to go check to make sure everything was working.

Apparently something renames the zone doors in the Adash world so that they're just default doors and won't zone you out of an area anymore. So instead of "Door to Adash", all you see is "Wood door" and instead of zoning you out of the cave, it just opens and closes. This pretty much 100% breaks the mod, which svcks pretty bad because from the little I got to see of the mod it was fairly amazing.

Sorry guys :( Guess we all need to learn to speak Dutch!

The problem is that I don't know if it will just be doors that get messed up. It could very well be a lot of other things as well. The first thing I noticed is that when you go to the NPC to start the quest/transport you to Adash in the Chorrol mage's guild that he is doubled. One that speaks german with german subtitles, and one that is silent with english subtitles. Depending on which one you talk to he ports you to a different world. One that I had translated, or the original, untranslated one. In the untranslated one everything works 100%, but in my translated one the above issues occur.

Those issues are just simply beyond my knowledge of the CS/gamebryo engine. I don't want to spend the week(s) it's going to require to translate all the text just to see massive issues with the .esp because of some wierd auto translations that the tool did.

I'm only going to be translating dialogue, quest entries, and whatever the hell "LSCR" is in the CS(it looks important).


LSCR = Loading Screen. :)

Since a new http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1085400-relz-eggtranslator/ was released today, I figured I might as well bring this mod back to public attention and plea for translation!!! Seriously, this looks like it could be one of the best mods ever created for Oblivion.

Wow... I was wondering who'd dug this up. :P As it happens, I saw the translator and had the same idea. I'll take a look at this and see what I can do with it.

I've started working on the translation, thanks to Lady Li's Egg Translator. Her program has a neat little feature that outputs a text file listing all the records that have been translated. Would one of the folks on the Adash team be so kind as to look it over and make sure my translations are accurate? I can do it in parts, if necessary. I only ask because I know little to no German and I want to capture the essence of the mod as closely as I can. Thanks. :)

I realise WalkerInShadows might breach the protocol by not asking permission, but then, where there is a mistake, there could be found forgiveness...
So many of us are waiting to have a look at your work.
Will you deny us the opportunity?

Would you grant WalkerInShadows permission to translate Adash in English, please?

Lack of courtesy? You did give tacit / implied approval in your OP.

also, Walker never said he was gonna release it did he? perhaps he is merely translating for his own purposes and planned on getting ur permission when he was done...just speculation of course, but its a thought that came to my mind :)

Perhaps it is just me ... but regarding the two translation issues today (Adash and the Order) could it be a cultural thing?

I've not read the readmes on each and I'm certainly NEVER going to translate a readme to read it, but it does not seem that the offers for translation are that egregious - coming from the point of view of a North American. Certainly not of the caliber of unforgivable.

I recall similar exercise with the Oblivion Alive mod ... perhaps there are cultural differences we are not aware of on our side. Perhaps the culture of the German Modders is much different than that of American Counterparts. Different expectations, different standards. I believe Walker was inspired by the new mod translator by Lady Li (if I'm not mistaken German).

It really is not a close issue with me in the long run, however, as another giant uber mod project is the same elusive, intangible, never obtained thing regardless of the language.

I am excited for the completion of this mod. Now I know that it says that chapter 4 is being released in 2009 but it's past that. So I just want to know what the progress is. By the way,I've seen the above exchange, what are the translation guidelines besides ask the authors? Are official translations being done chapter-per-chapter or as soon as all chapters are done?

P.S TBH, I'd rather have a full crew translating the game since there is voice acting in this. (No Offense WalkerInShadows, but hearing german voices with english text is an immersion killer. ((unless that's not how the translator tool works but I digress)) )
