[RELz] Adash - City of Magic: The Triumvirate of the Danqua

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 11:45 pm

ADASH - CITY OF MAGIC
A german project for Oblivion and Shivering Isles.

Beyond the coasts of Tamriel,
far in the west amidst the unknown.
There's a city filled with magic and miracles.
A free city under the banner of the brotherhood.
A Place for traders, mages and adventurers,
a place for slayers, bandits and slave-traders.
Five magical circles, an endless fight for power.
A free city, without the servitude of the emperor...

Chosen by the Gods to face up to the Triumvirate,
those Gods are not well-disposed to the Namadash.
Deep beneath the lanes and streets of Adash,
the real enemy of this world is revealed to the Wanderer.
And everything he hoped to know and believed in
loses its meaning in this moment...

The Oblivion modification 'Adash - City of Magic' (which also needs an installation of
Shivering Isles) is one of the biggest german story driven projects so far (partly)
released here in Germany. At the moment there is only a german version.
Maybe some native speakers will be found to work on an englisch version?

German page: http://www.adash-web.de

ABOUT THE WORLD OF ADASH

Adash, the city of magic, is a place beyond the boundaries of Cyrodiil and Tamriel
far in the west at the end of the sea. A Place with his own history, his own culture
and his own conflicts. For several months the fragile peace between the Five Circles
threatens to find an end and in these days the Oracle of Mandakar speaks about the
arrival of a stranger from the east... But who is this stranger, who has to oppose
the still banished enemies from a world beyond imagination?

ABOUT THE RELEASE AND THE DEVELOPING

'Adash - City of Magic' will be released in a yet unknown count of chapters, which
will tell bit by bit the main story of this project. The first chapter (in German) has
been released on the 13th April 2008, the second chapter (also in German) has been
released on the 2nd October 2008. The third chapter (also only in German) has been
released on the 14th May 2009. The fourth chapter will be released in 2009.

This looks epic! I already found out about Adash a while ago, as the website of "The Order" had a link to this. Good thing my German is good enough to understand it, so no need to wait for an English translation for me.

Firstly, I would like you congradulate you guys on the release! Awesome job! I just have one question though, is the mod only in German right now or is there an English translation (not voice over in English) because I can't find it in the opening post. Thank you

If I wanted to make this mod compatible with English Oblivion, I need to replace the English race references with the German ones in the CS, correct?

So, two quick questions:

1) Where would I find that list and how would I change it? (a link to the wiki would suffice, I don't even know where to begin)

and

2) what are the races in German? I know there is some overlap (Bretons and Imperials are the same?)

Sorry, I was confusing myself. I thought german version meant voicing (something is wrong with me)

You do not have to this for Adash. I do not use the standard race references, so there should be no problem.

Is there no one who would be willing to translate this? I would do it myself right now if I could speak a bit of German, but unfortunately, I can't :(. This looks like an absolutely incredible mod, it would be great to see it available to the English community :)

Even just the shown dialogue translated would be nice. I certainly don't mind hearing German voices or anything. Would add a bit of exoticness to the mod, methinks, like with Morrowind's Arktwind.

If someone can handle the actual translations(as Im about as gifted with languages as Del Boy), Im happy to voice any human or dunmer male voices(my voice is a bit deep for what I see as elf/bosmer).

What are the chances of just getting english subtitles? I'd love to play a mod in another language and just read the subs when others are speaking.

edit: I didn't read the whole thread before I posted. I'm glad to see that several people have already posted the same thing :)

Although this is an option, unfortunately Google translate usually gives very choppy sentences and doesn't convey the intended meaning of the German. It would be much better if it could be run through the translator, and then someone who could speak German could fine tune it. As the others have said, I would be totally fine with having English subtitles and German voices. How long, for someone fluent in German, would translating take?

Kain if I install these mods in my English Oblivion directory should it work 100%, but simply be all in german?

Also, can I have all three installed at the same time and they will work in harmony with eachother?

Well just to let everyone know, I'm assuming the mantle of translating these mods with the tool I linked above combined with google translate. I downloaded and installed all three mods that LordKain made and I'm going to start working on translating them today. This means that people who want to play these mods will have to get all three parts and install them, then use my translated .esp.

I'm only going to be translating dialogue, quest entries, and whatever the hell "LSCR" is in the CS(it looks important). No weapons/armor/items/names/misc, etc will be translated. So essentially the whole mod will be in broken, computer translated german except the primary parts you need to make it through. But since the mod appears to be absolutely massive in scope and size, I think it will be worth it to people who want to role play(yes RP in Oblivion!) a character visiting a foreign land that they only have a basic understanding of the language in.

I don't have ANY idea how long it will take to translate all the text. I'll basically be copy/pasting everything into a German to English translator one line of text at a time.

Wow, that was quick. It doesn't matter if some items don't have english names, I'm definitely gonna use your translated version anyway . Thanks for doing all work!

Well holyyyyyyyyyyyyy crap.

I just spent a good 3 or so hours just copy/pasting. I only got one block of dialogue out of the way. I estimate, looking at the rest of the dialogue blocks, that I'm between 5 and 10% done :(

I'm going to be leaving all generic greetings and goodbyes untranslated because of how massive of an undertaking this is going to be. It will probably be a couple of weeks at a couple of hours per day just copy/pasting to get this done.

siiiiiiiiiiiigh. I wish I didn't want to play this mod so bad :/
