Major Concern -
Minor Concern
I mean, excluding superficial visuals and party performance boosts. i.e. larger health, party buff, nametags, the rest of this stuff lessen the experience of play. You just want the cheap way out without the effort. Again, if it only recorded / used for personal benefit. That's fine, but it is data collected from dozens + of players covering just a % of the game that is consolidated into one main source of revealing information.
"God forbid you play with people you enjoy playing with instead of people who can press 1-2-3-4 in a slightly superior order. Add-ons as personal benchmarking is an amazing way to promote self assessment and growth. Add-ons that put others to the flame to be judged by people who don't understand that the raw output of damage/heals are moot in fights that require CC/interrupts/positioning/etc, however, serve to promote poor understanding of the system themselves and also promote uniformity since people are less likely to take a risk on a build that may or may not be less than the current FOTM."
Okay. This is going a bit beyond the pale. Performance is more than just output. If you are the top DPS but the group wipes what did we accomplish? Of course all of the performance stats need to be taken into account with other, less tangible, factors. And I am not above choosing friends over people I don't know. Why? Simply because I do prefer to play the game with friends. I know how they are going to respond to defeat as well as victory. And when the difference between victory and defeat becomes a sliver my friends will do what I ask in order to move the margin far enough to win...and they can rely on me to do the same.
The sad part of this whole discussion is that most of the people who actually use performance add-ons to help themselves, and their teammates, get the most out of their gaming experience are lumped in with the dude-bros who use them to bash others. I like to think I give everyone a chance. Even people who I eventually label as "dude-bros". And while I give people a chance I do my best to try to help them and ask for reciprocation. I find performance measuring mods to be a tremendous benefit to this end. And, as such, I will always be in favor of having them in-game.
It actually isn't all that imbalanced if you consider that the damage output of a 1 hander and shield is awful in PvP compared to the heavy burst of 2 handers and dual wield, and that the shield offers no defense against magical attacks aside from that ability and this:
[Passive] Deflect Bolts – While you have a one-handed weapon and shield equipped, block an additional percentage of damage from projectiles and ranged attacks.
And Deflect Bolts isn't available until you're pretty high level.
@Kalron78 what stats how many hps you have in your bar? They won't show your resists armor class or anything else so what do you mean by stats?
In my experience of RvR/AvA that took place in DAoC there is no mod that will help you. The only thing that helps is a focused and coordinated management of attack. There is just too much going on to pay attention to mods that show the opponent's stats. Most RvR fights didn't last more than 20-30s. Battles lasted longer but the actual fights didn't.
