Please delete this thread, it created/built nothing more than another troll-like argument as to why addons are cheats. Not only is it a troll like post, but there are other NUMEROUS threads out there to post your 2 cents in.

Mods are optional as is dps meters and healing meters also.
get out here !!!!
So you are saying that the addons will not tell an enemy player my defensive characteristics that have nothing to do with damage output and what spell is being invoked? I only ask because I have seen claims that say otherwise. I don't give a rats ass if some munchkin wants to [censored] to his big numbers, I just object to the munchkin knowing things that are not visible to the naked eye.
Elitists =/= Whiners
Are you sure you're quite able to comprehend what whining is?
But unlike many of the other threads, this one is an *attempt* to state reasons so that an intelligent reader can assess the pros and cons. I have a strong opinion, yes, but it's not a troll, it's a statement of my position with reasons. I can understand why some people would not want that, but the last time I checked, this was a forum for general discussion of ideas. It doesn't mean everyone's going to like every idea or reason, but that's not much of a reason to shut down a thread. If you have an idea to express, chirp up.
If your info is accessible in any way to other players, they can learn it too. That means that if there is an Inspect-like feature in the game that players can use, the addons can use it too. What spell is being cast is usually in the Combatlog so an addon can read it, just like a player could, and will say it out loud.
Addons can't get info that isn't also available to players. They can't.
Making things appear font 30 , does not make them true.
You will see ONLY: HP ,Target buffs/debuffs and Hots and Dots (as these are debuffs and buffs). (have to have target selected to see them).
You will ofc have combat text, to see your own damage and healing.
You will see your own experience, clock(local),gold (you can also see it in character page)
Everything else in the list is BS.
hopefully ZOS will tighten up the API so you dont have access to information that breaks balance
Sorry, not going to happen. Just don't use them, you will enjoy the game just fine.
I'm pretty sure mods that tell you when to do something or use certain spells will be against a terms of use agreement. I have never seen a mod for another MMO like that because they don't allow them. I've seen UI changes and notifications when cooldowns are ready but never anything that says "block now" or "use this spell now".
What you stated in your post that everybody "needed" to see, has been stated in the current threads going on numerous times. It all goes torwards one thing: I like addons (is one side) (i dont like addons) on the other side.
Nobody has had valid first hand experience in testing these out thoroughly, yet we sit here and discuss it like so.
Not my idea of discussion, more like endless debates/arguments over something we havnt even tested. Creating more threads just adds to the heat.
I will check this out in the next beta, in the prior ones I never inspected anyone or tried any ingame divination to learn their secrets.
No thanks, terrible idea.
If you want an explanation, see the other two useless threads the OP has created, i'm not interested in retyping the same [censored] even if he is.
From what I can tell in the video, all of the information presented is from the character and not another source. To me this is fair as its no different than having several stop watches and clicking them on/off so you know when skills have ran out.
As long as they can't see my resistances or when buffs/de-buffs from other characters are cast then its perfectly fine, its nothing more than a combat log displayed over the UI.
i hope i never end up in a raid or group with any of you guys that dont want dps meters and various souch tools,
they are helpfull to help us improve our game style and chance what we can to be even better.
if you want to group with people that dont like mods or addons that help those of us that like to use them. them form your own alliance or find an alliance that dont allow it.
It is that easy.
Because ESO has brought a bunch of self-entitled TES gamers who live in a delusional bubble world. They can't handle that someone might be better than them or the fact that they aren't beautiful and unique snowflakes.
I've...always seen mods like this. In fact DMB, Spellflash, and GTFO along with a host of other stuff was practically essential for my WoW play.
Honestly all of these just translate information hard to find into an easily read format which is fine because all of that information was available anyway. If it's cryptic it's meant to keep the UI clean but why does that matter if some people don't want that and would rather want the information on the situation?
I don't disagree. I guess my feeling is that there are a few topics that are so important to some people (like me), there's a desire to want to make real clear to the devs that this is a big issue. I think they got the message now.
I believe they stated over and over that the only modding would be to the UI, The User Interface. To me that means changing the look and feel of your HUD on screen, Things that are purely cosmetic. I find it interesting that we've gone from cosmetic to detailed information about your PVP opponents to the point that your basically standing behind his screen reading his plays.
