Add x64 version game

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 4:08 am

Hi, I'm using windows 7 x64
I know that the programs, imprisoned under the architecture, work much better than a 32 bit system, for example.
Why not do it? ..
Survey of users STEAM showed that the first place is windows xp, second place - windows 7 x64

I believe this is coming w/ the "DirectX 11 Patch" .. I'm not positive about that, but I thought I saw mention of it somewhere by Crytek. Considering the first "Crysis" had x64 bit mode, and then "Crysis Warhead" had x64 bit mode added w/ a patch, I feel sure that "Crysis 2" will get x64 bit mode with either a patch or the directx11 enhancement patch.

What they NEED to do, is make x64 bit mode for "multi-player", they never did in the past because of extra work needed to be done to allow x64 bit mode players to connect to 32 bit mode servers, but it can be done. The easiest thing for them, would be putting up x64 bit servers, but that would be a big FAIL. Just do some extra tweaking and make them compatible w/ each other.

Truthfully, x64 bit mode servers might have less hackers... =0

Yes! utilize my 64 bit system. Like you did in crysis 1. Most new computers come with 64 bit OS anyway. That's free performance with even better graphic flow. Don't let us down!

u guys do realise that x64 is only and only used so CPUs can see more memory? there are no additional tweaks n x64 or smth like that :P just means that if u have 8 gigs and using 32 bit u will be able to use 3.2gbs but with x64 u can use all 8 gigs.

64 bit is more solid looking on the screen, i used xp 64 bit, i now use 7 64 bit, and i've played many 64 bit games, it ain't just the RAM thingy.

Honestly the main reason you'd go 64bit is if you needed more than 4GB of RAM. Sure there's a slight performance improvement due to the fact that a 64bit system can safely ignore any legacy support for older CPU architectures, but its not the end all be all of performance.

A 32bit app running in 64bit windows does have some advantages though. For example, unlike in 32bit windows, a 32bit app in 64bit windows has access to a full 4GB address space, where in 32bit windows, it only has access to roughly 3GB (give or take, depending on how many other devices you've got taking up address space via DMA).

But overall there's really not many advantages for apps that aren't memory starved at 4GB. And most games do not fall in the "needs more than 4GB of memory" category.
