Addiction

First off, I svck down Jet on a regular basis and have never become addicted to it. I took Buffout one time and became addicted. Now, this isn't really a bad thing, since I kinda hoped I was gonna get addicted to it... But I expected withdraw to cripple me, forcing me to seek more Buffout every time it wore off. Instead it dropped my Strength and Endurance by 1 point. I was hoping that it would drop my all my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to 1 or 2 and all my skills by like 50pts. Maybe not that extreme, but something that made me want to seek out more Buffout.

At the same time, I don't even care about my RAD levels since RAD poisoning (at least at low levels) don't do anything ether.

Is there a way to up the effects of addiction? Maybe have to wait 'till I get my hands on a CS?

I would say, these effects should take place upon addiction to Jet:

Strength, -3
Perception, -5
Endurance, -4
Charisma, -5
Intelligence, -3
Agility, -5
Luck, no change

Small Guns, -25
Energy Weapons, -25
Big Guns, -25

You must take Jet again within 24 hours to release the penalties. Addiction will again resume 12 hours later.

You can remove addiction by visiting a doctor for 50 caps, or by using a home lab kit.

That is so lame.

Handholdey carebear ADD-twitcher coddling.

I can see medical help speeding up the process, but it should be something you mostly just have to sweat out.
Also, it shouldn't be a set amount of time but variable based on constitution, maybe other stats. Plus a random amount. Plus "saving throws" vs. backsliding, which can add extra time or even reset the recovery process. Plus surrogacy potentials: an addicted character who doesn't get a fix may randomly consume other drugs from inventory as a substitute. (Roll vs. constitution, possibly with perk modifiers.)

As opposed to fallout 1/2 where you press "Z" and just keep resting until it goes away?

At least there is a real consequence here - you cant get rid of it until you get to a doctor.

Where did I say "as opposed to"?

The resting thing annoyed me a lot in FO1/2.
Never used it.
(Except once to see if I could heal Pariah Dog.)

i never used that, (really) i just lived with the +/- i had when taking something the might make me addicted or give bad radiation

Fo1/2 are the best rpg games made so far (just look at my signature if your in doubt) i compleated fo1 alot of times and i still love to do so... but the best things was the save game (dos) editor... made the game much more fun XD

After looking at your quote I got sad when I noticed you liked Jeff Dunham.

On topic. Yeah I wish addiction really meannt something. And that it got progressively worse so a point where you became an addict and having the doctor fix you was too expensive.
