Adding armor to leveled lists

Post » Tue Mar 16, 2010 1:07 pm

There are many fine suits of armor that people make, and place in chests for players to have as a freebie. Now, I'm not big on freebies, so I'm trying to find out how to move those armors into leveled lists so my characters will find them at random in dungeons, at the appropriate character level. Couldn't find anything more than a generic description of what a leveled list is in the CS wiki.

You want these armors inside chests as loot?

There are two ways to do this...

To add to level lists...(The armor will have a 'chance' to spawn, like other armors etc)

Go into the Leveled Items tab on the left, you'll find it under Items.

Scroll down until you find entries beginning with LL0LootArmor. (They will end with Oricish, Mithril etc, based on what type of armor they hold.)

Place your armor in those lists, based on where you think it would be most appropriate.

You can even create your own list, if your armor doesn't really fit into any of those existing lists and then add your new list to one of the LL1LootArmor lists (Some end with Heavy, Magic, Light etc, depending on what they are and the number at the end, like 90, 75, 25, is the % chance they have of spawning. 10 = 10% chance to spawn etc.)

To add directly to containers... (The armor will always spawn in that chest)

Go into the Container tab on the left, you'll find it under World Objects

Now scroll down unti you find the entries beginning with Dung (for Dungeon), like DungBanditChest1 etc.

You can then add your armor to the chests

Have a mess around with the lists and try to understand them first. Then you'll get better results. You can right click on a list and click Use Info to see what other lists contain that list/item.

That was very helpful. I have a few questions, which I hope you don't mind, as followup:

When I open one of those lists, such as LL0LootArmor0MagicLight3Chainmail100, it shows zero under Chance. Wouldn't that mean there's a 0% chance of that item showing up?

Also, Level is listed as 1 for everything, yet the box is checked for "calculate from all levels below or equal to PC's level." If the latter holds true, what is "Level" for on the left in those lists?

Finally, where would I set the level of items I'm moving onto those lists?

Chance None 0 = There is 0 chance of None ever being chosen, which means there is 100% chance of getting an item.

If you were to set Chance None to 75, that means you have 75% chance of getting nothing, so 25% chance of getting an item. Seems backward to me aswell, but that's how they designed it.

Also, Level is listed as 1 for everything, yet the box is checked for "calculate from all levels below or equal to PC's level." If the latter holds true, what is "Level" for on the left in those lists?

Thats because they are a base list, all the armor lists in LL0 have a level of 1.

If you look in the list LL1Loot you'll find these LL0 lists being used with their proper levels (as the LL1Loot are the actual lists used in containers, not the LL0Loot lists.)

Finally, where would I set the level of items I'm moving onto those lists?

If you click on an entry in the list you'll see on the right there is a Level and Count text boxes. You put the value in there. Level = the level the entry will show up at. Count = the amount that will be chosen.

So if level = 5 and count = 3 for Orchish Helmet, you'll get 3 Orcish Helmets show up at once at level 5.

If you put count at 3 for a list however, like LL0LootArmor0MagicLight3Chainmail100, you'll actually get 3 different items from that list. Because it is choosing that list, then looking inside that list and choosing an item and it does that 3 times.

NOTE: You'll only get 3 different items if the list that contains those items has the checkbox 'Calculate for each item in count' checked. If that checkbox is not checked, you'll get 3 of the same instead of any variation.

This part I still find confusing. If I read you correctly, the LL0 base lists are used by the LL1 lists? Or am I missing something?

And if I wanted to add all the pieces to a suit of XYZ armor that will show up at level 5, would I put those in LL0 lists, or LL1?

Otherwise, that was both very informative, and clear. Once again, thanks!

Yes they are used by LL1. The best thing to do is open up different lists and just look at how they've done them and try to learn how they are used and such. A lot of lists are used by other lists.

And if I wanted to add all the pieces to a suit of XYZ armor that will show up at level 5, would I put those in LL0 lists, or LL1?

Ideally put them in the LL1 lists, You could put them in the LL0 lists, as long as you put them in a list that is given a level of 5 when used in the LL1 lists.

It is all a little confusing at first, but it doesn't take long before it makes sense.

A good idea is to make a chest of your own and put it somewhere you can easily get to it as a test chest, like in your player house or something. Then try creating some lists and see what results you get to help you understand it. Trial and error is the best way to learn.
