Adding COBL Luggage to new locations

Post » Tue Oct 20, 2015 10:19 am

So COBL has this "Luggage" feature which places a red chest that follows you around (tribute to Discworld, I understand). It is a chest that can be found when you rent any inns, or player homes, or guild halls.

Now, I understand it was supposed to follow you into guild halls but it doesn't follow you in the Mages or Fighter's Guild Hall (I forget which, it's been a while since my last play through with each guild). In addition, it does not add itself (obviously) to other mod-added homes. Is there a hero who can take up the call and create a mod that (dependent on COBL and other house mods, of course) would add the COBL luggage to new locations? Maybe like a filter mod that has multiple masters, but only those that are in a user's load order get selected and have the Luggage option added.

Thoughts? Any takers to create this mod?

In my game the luggage does appear in both guild types. The actual location within the guild hall varies though eg sometimes in a basemant or room, sometimes in a common area within the building. In cheydinhal its not actually inside the mages guild hall, but located on the steps leading into the guild hall. But my game is still using older versions of mods eg Better Cities 5, FCOM 0.99 etc. I can't remember now for sure but I think it may also appear in the dark brotherhood sanctuaries too?. And it definitely appears in inns once you hire a room

I dont use mods that add other player houses, but auto adding the luggage to those would be a good idea

Guildhalls (including the arena) should work, but they won't be there when you join, only after you've been promoted once in that faction.

There's also a summon luggage spell in LAME iirc.

As for mods, unfortunately a filter patch won't work. The luggage needs to be placed into existing cells, which isn't the kind of edit supported by filters as far as I can tell. In general the problem with player homes is that there are just SO many and so few people will use the same ones.

That said, I started a project like this some time ago but never got too far with it. It was just for the mods I was using at the time. I found the most straight-forward thing was just to make a small add-on patch for each mod individually that added luggage etc to inns and player homes, then take and merge the ones I want with TES4Gecko. If anyone is interested https://www.dropbox.com/s/9rehcju0jlre53d/Cobl%20Additions.zip?dl=0 with the files that I finished, along with a changelog. Included are edits for Battlehorn & Frostcrag, a few of Arthmoor's villages and MTC mods.

You should officially release it. I think all of us would be happy to use it. Thanks for the hard work.

Well it's not hard work. But if i release it then I have to support it, and actually probably finish up more of them. Which I just don't have time for now

Still if anyone wants to take them and run with it that's fine. Or if you have specific mods you'd like patches for (with no guarantees about timeframe or quality :D ) just let me know.

Ah, that's up to you of course. Nevertheless, I appreciate your work and sharing it with the modding community. :thanks:
