Adding perk to quest rewards upon completion

Post » Sun Mar 21, 2010 3:11 am

I'm around 90% completed with my "Trail of Crumbs.." quest mod, and the last big thing I need to do is add my perk upon completion of the quest. All 11 stages and keys are functioning properly, and my trigger completes the quest as it should. I've tested it several times so I believe it's good to go.

All I need to do now is figure out how to add my perk and set the perk to do what I want it to do. How do I set up the prek, perk entries and all that?

I thought I'd add that I have the form for the perk created and an actor effect created. I just renamed the wasteland survival guru and created the new form. Is that OK? It's about what I want my perk to add I guess. So I'm stuck hooking all this stuff up, lol.

Thanks

I am unsure how to actually set up the perk, as I have never done that, but too add it to the player you would use http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/AddPerk in the result block of the quest stage. Hope that helps you get a bit further to succesfully finishing. Also, if you have a perk added by a mod, then you remove the mod (deactivate it) then the game will crash when loading your game. So you can make another quest, that when started, removes the perk then stops itself. Then just have the player, if they choose to uninstall your mod and have the perk, do the following steps. Load the game, open the console then type in StartQuest MyModPerkRemovalQuest (whatever you name it) then it removes the perk and stops itself, and THEN save and close the game, and remove your mod, or deactivate it or whatever. That way they arent stuck with your mod forever if they get the perk. Hope this helps.

OK, I added player.AddPerk CrumbsBadAssPerk to the result script to the final stage of the quest but it don't add the perk. What am I doing wrong? I have the perk and an actor effect for it created, and it appears to be linked correctly according to how others are set up, but nothing happens.

Is "playable" ticked and "hidden" unticked on the Perk data page?

EDIT: btw, the notice is not done, I just put something in there as sort of a placeholder for my reference. I will fine tune the text and stuff later. I'm just trying to get it to trigger properly. do I need something under conditions?

thanks guys, I really appreciate the help!

Oh, one last thing. The stuff in the actor effect can be changed after I get it triggering correctly, right? I'm not entirely sure what I am gonna end up with, I'm still deciding.

No you do not need something under conditions. Things like that are for if you only want it active in a certain Cell, or a certain time of day or something. If you want it active 24/7 leave that blank.

Yes, you can change what effects it gives and everything one you get it triggering. I am unsure where your problem is though, as like I said, I have never added a custom perk to the game.

OK, I'm gonna scrap the perk, but instead I am going to add some custom armor with an enchantment on it. That should also solve the whole uninstall/remove perk problem too, right?

It will also give the minimalist types the option of taking advantage of the perk or not (ie not having it forced upon them for completing the quest) I like this compromise. I just made a new form from Rivet City Security armor, and added my enchantment.

Are there any issues I need to be aware of? I can't think of any.

Thanks for the help!
