Re-adding scripts

Post » Fri Sep 04, 2015 3:05 am

I accidentally deleted my Scripts folder when uninstalling and reinstalling my game. Luckilly I had a backup of my sources so I didn't need to rewrite them.

My problem was when trying to put the scripts back onto objects. They still had the sriptname in the scripts box, they errored when I tried to edit source to paste my copied script in. They errored if I removed the scriptname and tried to put it back in as a new script, it said the script would not be added. I could give it a new script if I changed the name though. Oddly in i couple cases though it said it would not be added, it was and I was able to edit those sources to get it running again.

This puzzles me. I would think it would either work all the time or not at all. Anyone who understands how things work under the hood could explain it?

Did you also make a backup of the PEX files or was it just the source (PSC).

If the PEX file is missing, it does throw up errors, however it does allow you to edit the source (tried this before posting using Notepad++ opened via the CK), but if i clicked on the properties box they were missing.

If that is the case, you might need to re-compile all your scripts, to do this:

Click on Gameplay, Compile Papyrus Scripts,

after a while a box "Pick Scripts to Compile" will appear.

You can then either re-compile all, or go through the list and check which ones to re-compile
