Adding Some Polish

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 11:40 pm

Now, I am not going to do a poll for this. Instead, this orignal post will be broken into two sections. The first will be a list of everything that we as a community think would make this great game perfect for us, NOT for people looking for another generic shooter. The second wil be my personal ideas on what kind of polish to add. Please, no flaming, and all ideas must be seconded before i will add them to the list. Also, if this had been done, my bad. I just can't find anything useful underneath all the hate.

The List
Better Turret Target Aquisition
Operative Buff (accuracy and/or fire rate)
end list

MY IDEAS
=AI=
-AI on a team with a Player need to be just as good as AI on a team without a Player.
=Objective=
-Disarm HE Charge should be Soldiers
-Remove Hack Box should be Operatives
=Abilities=
-There need to be at least two abilites per Rank per Tree (for instance, at least 2 Rank 5 abilities per Tree, etc.)
-Each Class needs an Active Starter Ability like the Soldier Molotov and Engineer Landmine.
-Every slot needs on the Ability tree needs an ability.
=Soldier=
-1 more Ability
-Disarm HE Charges
=Medic=
-2 more abilities, 1 an Active Starter Ability (like molotov and landmine)
=Engineer=
-1 more Ability
-Disarm and Remove should go to Soldier and Operative
-Turrets need better Targeting
=Operatives=
-Remove Hack Boxes
-Buff something (Accuracy?)
-Disguises should only fail after attacking or being incapped. You should be able to interact with objectives, but if you you are seen, you lose your disguise.
-2 More Abilities, 1 an Active Starter Ability (like molotov and landmine)

those're my ideas. thoughts? ideas of your own?

i'm trying to get people to come up with ideas that they think would be Brink even better. I love this game, and even if they don't change a thing, I will still love it. But nothing is perfect. SD wants feedback, i'm trying to gather organized feedback.

Honestly, disagreed on all points.

I won't go into the details here, but unlike some Engineer fans, I don't think that class is OP, and I don't think their buffs and abilities need to be spread among the classes.

Each class does what that class is supposed to do - IF they have skilled players doing their jobs.

If you don't like an idea, don't respond to it.

I agree with most of your changes, Vikingwolf. Maybe switch it around, like make the operative remove HE bombs and soldiers take hack boxes off (to prevent situations where one class counters itself)

My ideas would be to:
Soldiers need more abilities to make them more useful. I find engineers are better at killing enemies, if only because of the gun buff.
Even if its just a straight damage boost for soldiers, because their role is to kill.

I like the idea of an offensive weapon for medic. There was talk of a bioweapon the medics had access to, but it looks like its been cut.
Also, when an enemy is reviving, any damage you do to them while they are standing up should carry over to when they're combat ready. Don't know how many times I've shot someone in the process of reviving, only for them to stand up with full health while I have an empty clip.

Turrets need faster target acquisition...don't know how many times I've just sprinted right past them.

Operatives need some teamplay options. The caltrops grenade is amazing for covering a doorway/path, the operative needs more abilities like that. Sticky grenade should have a bit shorter detonation time, I think it clocks in at about 7 seconds as it is now.
The accuracy buff is a good idea, maybe fire rate as well?
They should be able to hack command posts quicker too, as they are the "hacking" class.

One major problem. Lv.20 is the cap and you only get 1 point for it. Pretty sure SD doesnt want "Point saving". Rank 5 stays with 1 ability. IMO.

thanks for the input. Turret Targeting and Operative Buff have been added to the list.

I would love to see more Parkour Challenges Map, MORE MAPS! and at least one map where water is involve, a Floating city in the middle of the ocean and not one map where people are fighting on or near water? make the ocean a hazard, you fall in you die while fighting on perhaps a bridge that spans from one side to the next. Brink Locale has so much potential to be even more awesome, Don't hold back Splash Damage ROCK IT!.

More guns with more diversity, and more attachments with actual purpose. No more Muzzles/RDS that do the same thing. For a game with such emphasis on shooting, I can't tell any of the guns or attachments apart for the life of me. And a compare function for guns would help a ton.

Fixing the texture pop ins on the ps3 would add polish. Otherwise I like everything else.

I haven't seen this problem on my PS3.

I've only heard about it on 360, honestly.

Yes, it could do with work on 360, where I've herd it happens, and if it IS an issue on PS3, then it should be fixed. But I haven't seen it myself - sure it's not your console?

It's a new console and I'm pretty sure it is happening. I mean the textures blatantly pop in even during cutscenes. Play the defend the crane mission on the resistance side and you can see clear as day how the control panel slowly texturizes or play the challenge missions and see the same thing. Or heck even when you first spawn you can see your gun slowly texturize.

I've got a "refurbished" 60GB console (replacement from when my one I bought on release finally died several months back) and I haven't seen any graphical glitches - and I've been looking for them after hearing about the 360's problems. i was initially worried the issue might carry over across both console versions, but so far, you're the first PS3 owner I've heard of with that particular problem.

How new? if it's REALLY new, I'd recommend trying it out with a couple of other games, and getting it looked at if there's problems with anything else - make sure if there's a fault in the making, it gets found and fixed early, rather than waiting until it breaks and is possibly outside of warranty.

I've had it for 1 month. It plays all my other games fine. It was the slim Ps3 that was packaged with Killzone 3. I notice these texturizing problems all the time.

If you don't know what I mean by texturizing problems, I mean that objects on the screen first show up as a blank box, then becomes blurry, and then finally graphic details pop in.

Soldiers need more abilities to make them more useful.

Soldiers are as much of a backbone for the team as Medics, imo.

You go through ammo really, really fast. And if there is no Soldier nearby, you have to run all the way back to a CP just to get a tiny bit of ammo.

Really? I find the guns to feel and handle very different.

I know what your talking about. Although for me it's not that bad. It happened in one match(maybe more I just haven't payed attention) but it lasts for like 3 seconds at the start of the match

I've seen a video on XBox where it happened, so I know what you're talking about.

I literally haven't seen it a single time since I got the game (around midnight on Friday)
