Adding your own music to the radio

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:53 pm

Is there a way to add my own music to listen to while playing. Say like through creating a new radio station or something? I figure it's possible through GECK but I don't wana mess around with it seeing as I'm pretty new to mods and modding.

Thanks for the quick reply lol

[Edit]: I was recommended this method on another forum, it sounds more complicated (I don't know much about what i'm doing lol) than using RACE or IPip, but is it a better method?

Method: -Convert your files to a constant bitrate, but keep them in mp3 format
-Open fallout - sound.BSA with the FOMM BSA manager thing.
-Extract everything.
-Find the radio folder.
-Rename your sound files to the one in the radio directory and replace them.
-Open up bsa creator , select your folder and compress and put it in the fallout 3/data directory. but remember to back up your original fallout - sound.BSA.
-After you place your new fallout - sound.BSA in the data directory when you open up the game three dog will play your music instead of the original game music

Plenty of radio mods. Browse, and look under the options of sound etc. Best one to date is the GNR:Theres More Where That Came From. Sadly its bugged pretty bad. It will either work or flat out not work, and nothings been done to get it working =/

I know theres plenty of radio mods but I'm looking to add my own music lol. I don't know anything about modding so I was looking for an easy method to add my own music either through radio or just listening while playing the game. I guess I could just listen to my ipod while playing though lol

What is being recommended is that you go to nexus and search the word radio - you will find many radio mods - some that add their own music to existing stations, some that allow you to add music to existing stations, and some that all you to create new stations for your music.

I think I use about 10 new radio stations and for my own music station something called http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3250. Really though since there are other mods that do it and various versions - the best thing to do is find the mod right for you then experiment and read those readmes and the next thing you know it is not a mystery and you won't need this thread.

Similarly with music - type in music and download a few music extension mods and see how they are formatted then you can figure it out yourself. Really that is a very simple thing to do and the only caution is that unless you back up the original music (because they are not in BSA format) then you could lose them by overwriting.

You can just rename your mp3 files (I'd stick with what the game uses: mp3) and either overwrite what is there (so you don't hear the original) or add new numbers (and hear the extra content).

If you want to add music to GNR that would be the way to do it, but if you just wan't to hear the music iPip would be a lot simpler to use.

Don't EVER EVER EVER modify the BSA files! That's VERY bad practice. The files will work just fine if left in the folder after you replace the extracted ones with your selections, as long as Archive Invalidation is enabled.
