So, if you happened to read about http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1496246-rel-rayms-absolutely-aleatory-accoutrements/, you'll know that it's meant to be the "base" for further plugins to add modders' clothing into the game.
Before I start, though, I'd like to hear your opinions on how I should do this. I've pondered the matter, and there are a few choices I need to make.
Full package vs simple addon:
Should I pack an indipendent, fully autonomous mod (so to speak), or just a plugin that needs the original modder's files to work?
Making a sort of "compilation" of modders' clothing has the advantage that I could integrate them better, picking what "looks good" together with the rest, etc.
Also, people would only download meshes, textures, and icons the mod actually needs, instead of the full original mod that I may well only partly use for my own plugin.
Going with a simple addon that requires downloading the original mod(s) on your own also has its pros, though.
First of all, I wouldn't need to contact people for permission, since I would not be repackaging and reuploading their resources. May not look like much, but since a good portion of "historical" modders left the community, contacting them could prove to be next to impossible, I fear.
Another advantage is that I could make separate plugins for different modders stuff. Maybe you like Korana's clothes but don't like Aleanne's, and don't want the two together. This way, you can choose what plugins interest you, instead of gulping down a single, big compilation.
Technicalities:
Where can I find a tutorial or similar about BB clothing?
I've learned a few things on the topic, especially about the non-standard slots, but I'd like to know of any peculiar problems on this field before I start.
Suggestions, resources, wishes:
Any suggestions are welcome.
Also, I'd like to know about resources that I could use, modders that gave permission to use their stuff freely, etc.
And if you have some wishes on this, I'll see if I can do something about it.
