Adopted Child not following me home

Post » Sat Dec 07, 2013 7:35 am

I adopted Sofie and she said she would meet me at Lakeview Manor, but she has never shown up. I know this is a known bug, and was wondering if there was anyway to force her to come home. Would buying a new house and moving my family work? I play on 360, so that seems like that would probably be my only option. If anyone knows it won't help, I won't waste my time or septims on buying a new house.

Give it a day or 2 and see what happens. If she is still in Windhelm, then try speaking to her again.

Its been a lot longer than a day or two in game, and when I speak to her, she acts like shes living in Lakeview Manor. Whats weird is one of the children's bed in the house says "owned" like she's sleeping in it.

I have never had that problem. Have you tried clearing the cache?? If that still does not work, then you might have to go back to an earlier save.

the children beds always said "owned" for me. But she is still in Windhelm? Welrd. Do you own another home with a children's room you can move to that home and see if she meets you there instead?

When I first built my house none of the beds said "owned" on them. Even when I moved a steward and a housecarl(karl?) in. It was only after I told Sophie that I would adopt her that it changed. And, yes she's still in Windhelm. She told me she was going to ger her things or whatever, and would meet me at my house, but she never showed up. Now, when I talk to her there are no dialogue options, and she acts like she's living in Lakeview Manor, even though she's still wandering the streets of WIndhelm like a street urchin in a dikeens novel. Right now, I don't own any other house but Lakeview Manor, but I'm thinking buying a new one and moving is my only option to see if I can force her to move with us.

@ashleyclark: by the time I realized that she hadn't shown up I had already deleted all my other saves before I asked her to be my daughter, and yes I have tried clearing the cache on my 360. It didn't help.

well, you tried. If you have the house Breezehome in Whiterun, just go to the steward and change your alchemy lab to a childs bedroom, and see if you can get her to move there. If that works, then maybe it has something to do with getting the steward and housecarl before getting her.

well for a cheap home Breezehome or Honeyside. build a child's room and see if she has dialog to move there. If she does then have her move. If she appears then tell her to move to Lake View and see what happens.

Oh... you have the beds but do you have the chests? I think you need to build a bed and a storage chest for the child. See if you have a chest. If you do then... I don't know but if not. build one and see if she moves there.

Good point Resident_Within. I forgot about that. You not only have to have the bed, but also a chest / dresser.

Yeah, other than a few items (a tanning rack and an anvil that I didn't build for aesthetic reasons) my house is complete. All the chests/beds in both the Main Hall and the Master Bedroom are built.

edit - everything was done before I adopted her also.

I do not know what else to tell you. You did everything. You could try the moving thing and see what happens.
