Adoring Fan in Skyrim?

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:53 pm

Throughout Oblivion there were many characters that without them, the game would eventually get boring. More spefically The Adoring Fan. Nothing would bring me (and i'm sure, millions of my gaming bretheren) more joy than having that wood elf follow me around in skyrim. Although the only problem would be there would be a plot hole. Not necessarily. My proposal is that he was ditched by the grand champion of the Arena and he became frozen in time in this lake in the north of Cyrodil. Then his frozen corpse flowed north to skyrim. Two hundred years later he was freed by an adventurer who was told that in this frozen lake there was treasure, unbeknownst, this treasure was the great adoring fan, a legendary stalker.

Perhaps The Adoring Fan isn't your cup of tea. My second proposal is that he could appear as a free downloadable DLC, so that those who don't want him, well, don't download him.

Perhaps you may also feel that it just wouldn't be the same, or that adding the adoring fan would just be seen as something to please the masses. Maybe instead of the adoring fan himself, he could be referenced to in caves, being inscribed into walls.

Last, perhaps you don't want to have him in at all. I don't know, it's your opinion.

State your opinion below, and if you would be so generous, vote in the poll

"I don't believe the adoring fan should appear at all."

Good riddance to the annoying little so-and-so, says I.

I want a very annoying little Bosmer who always respawns and never leaves you unless you tell him to.

I would yell 200 years, unfortunately he's an wood elf. what person in their right mind even likes him? that annoyance everyone is going on about is just an infectious notion, he's useless has like 5 lines of dialog and offers no comic value beyond whats cocked up by the player. it takes all of 5 minutes to make a similar NPC in the CS and slap together some dialog and bewm thats it, there is nothing special about him get this out of your head.

I voted yes, but in truth, I believe there should perhaps be a descendant of the adoring fan who looks an awful lot like his nameless ancestor...

No.

We should have a new annoying wood elf in Skyrim, not a ripoff of an unpopular character from a previous game...

Morrowind- Fargoth
Oblivion- The Annoying Fan
Skyrim- ???

I don't want another Adoring Fan but I hope that Bethesda will stick to the tradition of putting a Wood Elf that will get on everyone's nerves into the game.

"By Azura, By Azura, By Azura it's the Dragonborn I can't believe it's you oh my".

Yes to Adoring Fan although I'm not sure that Wood Elves can live 200 years. Adoring Fan was young probably in his 20's so it's doubtful but if he doesn't show up then some other Bosmer needs to take his place.

No. Maybe a few references, but he should not appear in the game physically.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken. all of the elven races can live approximately 1000 years, so he could actually be in. But I think there should be someone new who is very similar, like a relative or a descendant.

As I suggested on the Maiq thread, I'd prefer it if he appears as a skeleton in a cave or ruin, clutching a lore book about the wonderful and entirely implausible adventures that he went on with the Champion of Cyrodiil

Would make a nice Easter Egg :hubbahubba:

If I hear, "By Azura, by Azura, by Azura!" I will flip. There will be a major hacking of limbs, and what's left of him will be left as dragon bait. Because dragons can't pick up the taste "annoying".

Yeah, but annoying characters are fun, as long as there aren't a concentration of them. One really annoying character would just make it more interesting. I mean, for one thing, it gives you one NPC who you just want to think of all the delicious ways you can end his life. It's kind of a tradition in TES to have an annoying NPC who you just want to take up to the edge of a cliff and push him off...

How about a really annoying character who walks up to you on the streets and tries to sell you things. And when you say no, or walk away, he follows you a little and tries to convince you to buy something. That would be very annoying...

My friends 10 year old son just found him, and was annoyed with him only moments later......he's 10, and finds him very annoying.

I think it's safe to say we both would be very pleased to never see him again, ever.
