Well, either that or personal preference. I prefer iron sights.

Ditto. Unless there's 2 or more guys. Then it's hipfire-spray-slidey-bunny-hopping-tiem! :woot:

CoD didn't have useless hip firing, but it was pretty crappy which made it practically useless. <_<

Don't talk about my CoD! Lol, jk. But, it depends on what you mean by useless. Like, you cant hip-fire across map, but if you're close, about 15-20 feet, you'll hit them. It's not nearly as accurate as Brinks hf though :shakehead:
I prefer irons anyway though. Just as long as I don't get outgunned by hf from a certain range, I'm fine.

That's simply not true. Given the amount of bullets it takes to kill (especially with Stopping Power in MW2) you could easily hip-fire-kill people from some nice distances. Especially with the more accurate weapons, like the ACR.

Oh, and of course G18 Akimbos ... I guess they just added them for the lulz, because they were more accurate than any other weapon despite dual-wielding.

Brink. Brink. Brink.

Then enough arguing over how good or bad hip fire was in Call of Duty.

It's more discussion about the similarities and differences between CoD hipfire and Brink hipfire.

People need to stop using CoD as a reference for how things will be in Brink. The only thing really CoD-like I've seen in Brink is the "Duty Calls" control scheme you can choose.

I assure you all that hip-firing and iron-sighting will be very well balanced.

We do it because CoD is the standard for FPS's these days, and it's mechanics are most familiar to the widest range of people. It's just a point of reference.

Lol "cod is the standard for fps' these days" reminds me of a cod fan that came on the forums a few months ago raging how the respawn time was to long, and we need to make the game more like cod because brink's markting is terrible and cod has made alot of money, because there the "standard of gaming in todays world" XD

Good times, goood times........

I actually remember that well. By the standard, I just mean the most commonly played, and what most people are used to.
Some people just don't get that it shouldn't be about the money, it should be about making a great game to be proud of. We're already sick of CoD and it's clones.

I get that CoD is the game that most people are familiar with, I just meant that Brink is not actually similar to CoD in any way, from what I have seen and heard (which is a lot). Well, aside from the fact that they both have guns and you shoot people.

EDIT: And yes I did Doc. Just so I wouldn't freak you out anymore. I'm so thoughtful like that. :disguise:

Nah I'm really not. I like CoD4 campaign though. Multiplayer is...alright I spose.
Yeah, and we have new Medal of Honour which is a clone, Breach wich is a clone, Battlefield 2 which is a clone, Homefront, and the list goes on and on. The further we get from it the batter. Market, consider yourself oversaturated.

I use CoD as a benchmark of comparison for the people who haven't played either Enemy Territory.

Sub-par clone on XBLA. It's selling point was destructo scenery and genuine military tactics. Unfortunetely, both were rendered pointless because the only game mode is free-for-all style deathmatch.

It's made by the Six Days in Fallujah people.
No, it is not good at all.
Hey, I can make this on topic! The hip fire in Breach is 100% exactly the same as iron sights. Point your reticule at anything and it will hit.

Hipfire does not have as much of a place is FPS gaming as it should. Would love to see BRINK bring it in, and balance it with ADS.

Also, the current issue with conventional ADS view models is the reduced field of vision by a large obtrusive view mode. What I've suggested is making the view model transparent, sounds out of place, but from the FPS genre, I believe this is the direction that needs to be headed in.

No the real problem is tunnel vision and that you cant see a guy right beside you.

Well the point is that you're aiming down range, long distance. Iron sights are for when you've found a target, not when you're potentially next to an enemy in the thick of battle.
