Free running is not the same as parkour. This game is about moving and shooting not doing cool tricks while getting shot at.

Thank GOD someone finally noticed! Free Running = Getting from points A to B in the most stylish manner possible. / Parkour = Getting from points A to B in the fastest and most efficient manner possible.

Free Running is not even about getting from somewhere to somewhere else. It's only about moving in general.

I always thought games where about having as much fun as possible. Just thinking about trying to shoot someone while flipping upside down makes me lmao. Even if I'm killed while doing it don't I get to respawn again? Because it's a fricking game.
Again sticking to my adage the more VARIABLES you can put into a GAME= more FUN.

I wouldn't mind it because it wouldn't work and I wouldn't do it. So if someone wants to try and dodge my minigun, let them... It's easy XP for me.

ANNDD, what about turn sensitivity... I have to have it set to high, so if im a heavy what happens? Am I forced to turn really slow even if i have a really high sensitivity?

Aww people already beat me to the differences between Free Running and Parkour.
Well I'm gonna say no, because front flips and back flips or almost any tricks can reduce speed and momentum, so that means you will probably die. Plus it's pointless to do a trick in Brink.

maybe as a taunt, but that's it. I would never use them, I'd rather not spend my time doing flippy floppies and flips and [censored].

Wouldn't a backflip/frontflip/ect. ruin the whole point, as the point in it was to prevent canned movement?

Maybe a rolling maneuver after falling from a decent height to avoid damage. But flips and all that seem like they'd just end up getting me killed unless they were used for movement only like getting extra length in your jump or bounce and not meant for combat.

Perhaps you should learn the difference between Free Running and Parkour first. To do so, just read earlier posts in this thread which explain it.

Also I don't think a Parkour Shooter Game would work. Remember, BRINK is NOT such a game. SMART is only a simple movement-enhancer. An improvement over the advanced movements which CoD and Battlefield do already allow.

Precisely canned animations are no fun.

There is a slide for that.

No full flips, I think. Some Mirror's Edge-type moves like the 180 Wall Hop mentioned above make sense practically in terms of reaching higher terrain (or surprising a pursuer), but a full back flip or front flip, whether in first-person or third-person perspective, would be more disorienting than cool for a lot of people and wouldn't be practical.

They asked if it would be nice to do backflip and other movements. The answer is the same for the following question: Would it be totally useless to do such tricks in a multiplayer game?
(Yes, just for the hint)

Brink is the first game which fully implants SMART like movement to multiplayer, and without any offense I don't think it needs fancy moves. It's not Mirror's Edge for kids who want to do backflip virtually, but don't get me wrong ME was freaking awesome and I loved it all the way it is. But a backflip clearly has no use...

Mirror's Edge didn't have a mid-air backflip, though. Mirror's Edge is entirely a Parkour game. BRINK is not.

If there were "cool" tricks in this game I would be laughing at everyone doing it, while pumping them full of lead while they are disoriented by the crazy spinning.
