Advanced Magecraft: OBSE Hotkey Issues..

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 5:44 am

People have been reporting hotkey issues with my mod for some time.

I've experienced them myself, and reported them to Scruggsy, however, at one time he investigated the issue, and found it was caused by a variable being set wrong.

I've long since fixed that bug, and the issues still persist, I've reported the issue myself since then too. (I've instructed users to check that variable, and they are reporting it is set correctly. It was set correctly when I experienced the issue as well, I wrote the mod, I know how it works, and I know what to check.)

Regardless, this needs to be investigated again, everything looks fine on my end, as far as I can tell, it's an OBSE issue. (I would have posted in the OBSE thread, but I think it's locked at the moment, and I'm pressed for time.)

(Moving at the moment, and my internet is going to be getting shut off soon, may not be back online for awhile after the move. So if I don't respond, that's why.)

Some of the hot key issues that I have seen reported are also due to the regional differences in keyboards...... that would be some interesting info to accumulate with the reports of hotkey issues.

That is certainly a possibility, though, I told the users that may be an issue, and told them they would have to look up the keycodes for their keyboards.

However, I know for a fact that's not why it failed for me, the defaults are obviously setup to match my keyboard layout. :P

I will probably add a new menu so the user can set keys in-game, I used the .ini since it was easier than using MessageBox, etc,. But with MenuQue, it shouldn't be too hard to set that up. (Unless you wanna take a stab at it? It could just pop-up on first load, etc,.)

Anyways, I just wanted to post back on the issue before I headed to bed. :)

adding a config menu shouldn't be too much of a stretch. i will have a look at it.
