Advantage of jail break?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 8:12 am

Ended up in a jail and realized what's the only good use of Unbreakable perk: effortless jail break.

But the question is.. what's the advantage of jail break over simply paying a fine / bribe / sleeping?

How do I lose bounty if I escape, wait 24hrs outside of the town?

If money isn't a problem should I always pay for the crime?

And about Bribery, how useful is this option (gained through Thieves Guild or Bribery perk)?

You don't lose anything. If you pay the fine then you lose your money and your stolen items. If you go to jail then you lose your stolen items and some skill points. If you break out of jail you don't lose anything.

If you pay the fine they take your stolen goods and you can't get them back. Go to jail and break out they will all be in a chest. Bribing gets the guards off you but you will notice guards saying "Hey....I know you" or something similar to that. The bounty isn't actually gone and guards will recognize you and then try and talk to you if you don't leave quick enough. You will now have to bribe this guard too.

Do you really loose skill points? Or do you loose your current skilll progression?

To my knowledge (and I may be wrong) going to jail doesn't remove stolen items from you, just levels down individual skill levels (not overall) if your bounty is too high.

Going to jail is pointless if you are going to break out, since you can easily outrun the guard.

My guards are actually bugged into that state... They constantly say "Wait... I know you." but they don't try to arrest me at all :/
So you say that goint to jail would fix this?
