In Oblivion I don't like fighting goblins in caves or saving Cyrodiil from the Daedric Prince. I personally prefer RP to Adventure in Oblivion.

I like to roleplay but I don't follow all the questlines straight through.

I started as a power player with oblivions system, but to me you have to add some roleplay spice into the game otherwise its just not as fun.

Ditto here. Once you get to like the top of guilds and complete most of the quests and become god its like yay now what.

Roleplay hands down. I find my characters have a very short lifespan without roleplay, it helps keep me interested, and makes the game more fun for me

Both here ... RP comes first and foremost but adventuring goes along with it.

As the mood moves me. It's a game, I play for fun. Rigid systems be damned.

RP, but I do really like just closing random oblivion gates when i find them too.

That can be incorporated as roleplaying as someone who wants to completely rid Cyrodiil of Daedra.

I'm not sure I see that there must be a difference between adventuring and roleplaying.

My character roleplays as deeply as any I know, yet she has a real thirst for exploration and curiosity about the unknown. She studied very hard at the Arcane University and is quite fascinated by Ayleid culture, Goblin tribes, Deadra Lords and many other things. To her it is perfectly natural to take that curiosity on the road and explore. She quite loves exploring dungeons. She is a skilled mystic archer and not hesitant about using her skills to enable her to go where she wants. So to me, that is roleplaying and adventure combined for this character.

Now if she was instead, an assistant stockgirl in a frock shop somewhere, she probably would not be adventuring.

If by the word adventure, you perhaps mean questing, then the choice becomes clearer to me. We don't really care too much about questing and do not seek out quests to complete or have any interest in rising to the top of any guild or saving Cyrodiil.

i like a little bit of both. i once didnt start the main quest until i was lvl 25, my character was the master of every faction except the thieves guild and had 3,000,000 gold no [censored].

I like to roleplay, but I don't usually put a whole lot of emphasis on the depth of the character.

the only roleplay I can think of without adventure would be a shopkeeper or town guard.

A mixture of both is what makes the game what it is. I wouldn't limit myself to just one aspect of such a huge game. I love exploring and adventuring. Finding new locations, etc. However, on different characters, I enjoy spending most of my time in cities, reading books, or whatever it is my character wants.

I think sticking to just one in all characters would get redundant, and no offense, stupid, considering the vast possibilities both have, and the combination of it is really awesome.

Edit:Do'tirath made a good point. Roleplay can encompass anything. If your character takes the role of an Adventurer, Hunter, Ranger etc. Adventuring is Roleplaying.. so I guess the poll is kinda void. :shrug:

Adventure: Doing quests and other things without anything added onto that.
Like maybe buying a house without any furnishings just so you have somewhere to sleep.
Not pretending at all. Just playing the game

Roleplay: Doing quests and other things with added drama and excitement
Like after a battle. Feeling the pain your character does. Making the wounds seem worse.
Total pretending and playing the game.

Both: You play the game and roleplay when necessary.

If your character's roleplay is exploring caves and such then It's still a roleplay.

Yea I was gonna say...I don't see what the diff is supposed to be; whenever I go adventuring, it's a roleplay. :shrug: I voted "both".

I choose both I love exploring dungeons but you gotta look nice when you enter the imperial city.

I mostly adventure with roleplay elements/restrictions.

For me it was just adventuring. Once I pick up a copy of Oblivion(traded in my last one some time ago) I plan on doing a good mixture of both to draw out the gaming experience.
