Advice, asking someone at work on a date... !

Post » Sat Oct 30, 2010 12:32 pm

I know at my place of employment, the relationships all started through hanging out at work more (it's probably easier here) and then hanging out as friends after a while after work, then eventual ly dates and then relationships. It was always weird when I would have a co-worker be very forward about that, and not just because I'm not available. It's one thing for a co-worker to think you're cute and good company, but to be asked out on a date after two conversations is a different story. Then you'd most likely fall back on just talking about work.

Then again, that's here, in a retail store consisting mostly of 19-26 year olds. I would assume things are different there.

That doesn't seem too weird at all, unless the conversations are just like, Hi How are you Good, and you walk away. I guess that I'm only 18 so it moves a bit quicker but after I have one or two good conversations with someone I don't see anything wrong with asking them to something casual like coffee. I just guage their reaction, if they seem into me why not ask?

If you don't see her too much at work, then I would say go for it and ask her on a date.
If you interact with her on a daily basis, which it doesn't sound like you do, then it wouldn't be in your best interest to ask her out. A bad break up could cost you your job.

Congrats! This has given me confidence to ask out a guy I like at work - we've known each other for years, but I work on a different shift now so I figure if it all goes wrong I won't have to worry about the awkwardness of working with him. :P Only problem is I don't really see him at work now to ask him... Facebook it is then.

Oh for heavens sake, don't ask someone out online. <_<

@OP: Congratulations on your success! Hopefully the date will go well too. Yet another victory for us gamers against the hapless yet sixy prey. :foodndrink:

But I don't see him at work any more! :( Although saying that, I'm going in early today so I'll have to keep an eye out for him (also found out he loves TES and FO, another plus for him methinks).

Good work! Judging by your original post it seemed as if you were halfway there already.

Love at first sight..?

I don't recommend dating a coworker. If it doesn't work out, it can get pretty tense at work. But if she's in a completely different department, then I guess that could work out. Good luck.
