Advice on Begining to play the Series

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 5:58 pm

Hi,

I was looking at the series of games and was noticing that the first couple of games were dos based While I don't have a problem with this, I am somewhat impatient :) to get to the more recent games. I did see that they do come with a simulator. Would starting at the first game be the way to go? I ask because I know I would get stuck with all the add ons and downloads and everything else everyone has added to all the games over the years and I imagine there is a lot.

Thanks

Maybe try starting with http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/Fichiers/DaggerfallSetup.exe before moving onto Morrowind, though a lot of people find it too dated now. At the very least, trying Daggerfall for half an hour will make Morrowind's graphics seem wonderful in comparison without the hassle of downloading overhaul mods.

The games are independent in terms of story and drastically different when it comes to mechanics. There is really no penalty to start playing with one of the later games.

If I could start over again I'd start with Daggerfall.

It seems that the general consensus everywhere is that Daggerfall is a good starting point(and possibly the best TES game) Never hear much about arena.

Play whichever seems most interesting/fun to play in your opinion. The story lines don't really mesh together, so that's not a big deal.

My personal favourite is TES: IV Oblivion :tes:

Daggerfall is a good starting point agreed. It's a pretty fun game.

As for Arena... meh...
