Advice regarding doing faction quests

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:47 pm

I'd like some advice on how many quests I can do for the various factions before I end up getting cut off from the one I might eventually want to go with. As an example in New Vegas I did a quest for House and got cut off of the NCR quest line (and had to reload).

So I met the Brotherhood but declined to join immediately. My main sympathy is probably the Minutemen and then probably the Railroad. I'd like to do BoS quests but I don't want to see them in charge of the wasteland. I feel the same way about the Institute. However much both of those factions think they're in the right, I think that is highly questionable.

So if I join the BoS, what will happen to the other factions? If I do a bunch of Railroad quests, does that break anything, etc.

Thanks.

From the wiki it looks like you can do BoS to the end without angering anyone else but you can get locked out of BoS by doing some missions for other factions. Minutemen dont bother others and wont be bothered. I'm not 100% on this though.

Yeah the brotherhood quests (out of the main questline) do not cause conflict with other factions.

The factions do not care much about the minutemen. You can do quests for them all you want.

Haven't tried railroad.

Institute no idea.

I can't speak to all of the factions because I never joined BoS, but there does come a point with the Railroad missions where you will have to either take the Minutmen side or the Railroad side. I strongly suspect (because I weaseled out with an "unsure" response, so it's still hanging) that this choice affects your standing with both factions. The Minutemen have not asked me to take sides on anything yet.

There comes a time when you push the faction quests/main quest where you simply get a warning that there is no turning back, and then you can opt out and continue with your stuff. But sooner or later you have to commit to one faction.
