Seems like there is alot of unhappy people about spreading alot of negativity about the game and rating it low wherever and whenever they can. Its their right ofc, but what did they expect? This was never gonna be a revolutionary open world RPG, its a polished and much needed improvement on Fallout 3 and is that really a bad thing? Bethesda hasn't really done anything different since Morrowind, other than changing up some core game mechanics and polishing the graphics of the world. I feel like Fallout 4 is the first game since Morrowind and first Fallout game since FO2 that actually takes a leap forward. It has a soul, and knows the story it wants to tell and does so quite nicely. First a list of my favourite things about the game so far.
1)The world building is impressive and well thought-out. Having settlements outside the cities growing crops, pumping water etc. Sometimes they are attacked by raiders, and can be destroyed and removed from the game. City infrastructure makes sense and they are all governed differently, exploring society and preservation of culture. Things like politics, the press, organized crime etc.
2)Companions have depth. Their motivations are all different and it comes together with your personality type quite well. You can find the White Knight, the crazy, the drunk, the fun and the violent companions. Their background feels fleshed out and makes sense in setting.
3)The Art style is amazing and gives the world a much needed soul. Everything from the colour choice, clothing, music and lighting is well used and goes hand in hand with the well thought-out setting.
I could probably write something more in-depth, but its a start. So here is my advice to you. Ignore the FOV, the locked fps, the keybindings that is hardcoded. Sit down with the game and follow the main quest for about 4 - 5 hours until a certain point, you'll know when to stop. And then you'll see what i am saying. This game is Fallout in its every right, and it does a better job of it than the two previous games in the franchise.
