Aedra, Daedra, Lorkhan, and something called a Shezzarine

Really? I always thought that the reincarnation angle was complete bull, since the dreamsleeve scours your soul clean, and that you only became a real Nerevarine after walking like Nerevar. After all, if it came down to having his soul, then what's up with the spirits of past Nerevarines chillin' around as ghosts?

How does the Dreamsleeve erasing memory effect the identity of a soul? You can heat and compress graphite until it's diamond, but they're both still made of carbon. (ridiculously rough metaphor, but my metaphorometer is busted today)

And who says those failed Incarnates were ghosts? You were clearly talking to yourself the whole time in that cave... a sort of amnesia having been lifted by Azura god-shocking your brain/soul into lucidity.

This makes me doubt whether TES lore is for you.

touche

Then we have Alduin who was first mentioned in Morrowind(?), which I doubt many would consider him to be "good". Depending on your profession, Arkay likes to get in your way. Dibella can probably get a little raunchy for some people's tastes.

aedric good, daedric evil. Way to drop a bomb, amirite?

Main question was whether it mattered at all at Creation. At all. Like someone said, Boethiah's Summoning Day pretty much says "Nope. Doesn't matter." But before those letters, the general idea was "Oh hey, the gods come back each kalpa, somewhat refreshed and still pissed as ever." Now* we even think they switch places; "aedra-daedra" are still nothing but racist elvish labels.

I suppose I was just looking for significance in the whole Anu-Padomay business, which doesn't really matter anymore. Slow, gradual retcons** toward the fractured godhead pantheon. At least it was written all prettily; the gods aren't yet a petty set of men and women, squabbling and arguing at the cosmic level. Yet.

*As far as me not finishing Skyrim's MQ. oops
**cynical words are mean

All that Nerevar business. Schizophrenia within schizophrenia within schizophrenia. I assume, if Azura was really his patron-manipulator, we can use the Hircine-werewolf idea. She's been grabbing and recording Nerevar's memory-soul-identity for aaaaages.

'eh. I definitely can't say that you're factually wrong, but I still personally think that they were real ghosts.

The deceased had touched the Ring of Moon and Star and were killed because of it. I guess the ring is cursed, and the curse would only be lifted untill the Nerevarine completed his mission. I don't think it's beyond Azura to create such a thing.
