Aetherial Crown choices?

Post » Mon Mar 25, 2013 10:02 am

I just go the crown and am looking for suggestions as to what stones to use.

The Race and Skills I use are:

Dunmer

Destruction (Ranged Attack)
One-Handed (Melee Attack)
Light Armor (Protection)
Restoration (Healing)
Smithing (Armor and Weapon Buff)
Enchanting (Spell Buff)

Thanks.

I almost always take the Lord Stone (if the char is not overpowered as to reach the caps) because the magic resistance is very useful (a Dunmer will only receive 37.5% of fire damage (50% (fire resistance) of 75% (you resist a 25% of any magic attack thanks to the Lord Stone)).

I seldom use the Crown aside for training but, if I had to, I would put the Lady Stone if a vampire (allows a little stat regeneration under the sun) or the Shadow stone (automatic invisibility has saved me more than once).

If you won't use Conjuration and you wear the Crown full-time I'd recommend the Atronach Stone (very useful against Dragon Priests and magic users) and coupled with the Lord Stone only half of the magic attacks will harm you (the other half will recover your magicka) and those who do will only deal 75% of damage and even less if it's fire (half of it).

BTW, if using a Breton, the Atronach Stone on the Crown coupled with their racial power allows to absorb 100% of magicka during 60 seconds without compromising the ability to summon in the long term.

The Lord and Steed Stones, more defense and carry wieght.<--- best choices, IMO.
The Atronach Stone has a multiplicative effect on Magicka Regeneration, it halves total Magicka Regeneration in exchange for a chance at absorbing Magic Damage to Our character.
The Mage Stone allows Magic Skills to level 20% faster, and can help Destruction, Restoration and Enchanting level quicker.

I use the lord stone as my actual power (not on the crown)
and i put the steed stone on the crown, so when i get overencumbered in a dungeon i can pop it on and walk out to sell it all

I personally found that the Aetherial Crown goes quite well with an empty shelf if centered properly. Until I can break through the 81.5 barrier and put some stock into armor ratings, I doubt that crown will see any use. A small price to pay for playing a jack of all trades.

I like to keep the Summon Werebear on it just for fun.

Wait wut. You can do that?

Anyway, I personally prefer the Ritual Stone. It gives an infinite number of resurrections. VERY strong. Atronach is also a very good choice for it.

Oh, I forgot. The power's put onto yourself, not the crown... meh anyway. You can stack a few powers on that damn thing.

I've heard the Apprentice and Atronach stone mix well--something about the weakness to magic doubling the magicka you absorb when hit by spells? Not sure about that, I never do it since I don't like the thought of having a such a huge weakness to magicka, but it might be worth a shot.

Personally, after you're done training skills (Lady Stone + Mage/Thief/Warrior Stone), I'd choose the Lady Stone (+25% regen health and stamina) and the Lord Stone (for the +25% resist magic). I almost always end up becoming a vampire (+ necromage)--and the most annoying thing about being a vampire is the penalty to regen--so the Lady Stone really helps (I also stack regen bonuses on my gear for this reason). If you're not a vampire, you might try using the Ritual Stone instead of the Lady Stone.

On the other hand, since you can now make your skills legendary, it might be best to keep the Lady Stone + Mage/Thief/Warrior Stone combo.
