Aetherium Shard Glitch (Spoilers) : V

I don't want to spoil anything so, those who have played the Aetherium Wars quest, please read below.

Before meeting Katria in the Dwarven ruin, I collected all the Aetherium Shards from Deep Folk Crossing, Raldbthar, Mzulft, & The Ruins of Bthalft. I had them clearly in my inventory and when I got the last Shard from Arkngthamz, the quest said that I had collected 1 of 4 shards. I looked in my inventory and all the Shards I collected were gone, except for the one I just got from Arkngthamz.

Anyone know how to fix this glitch???

Is it possible for you to go find the others again?

I wouldn't risk doing that in the future.

I did go back, the shards weren't there

If there's one thing I've learnt about Skyrim it is never collect quest items before beginning the quest in question. Simply not worth it.

I've done it before with other quests. I was expecting to have all the shards and the Dragonborn the say "Oh, it so happens I have all the shards" or something around those lines.
