Aetherium Wars and Taron Dreth

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2016 7:20 pm

I have been playing Skyrim for years and Lost to the Ages many times but I did not know there is a random encounter possible with Taron Dreth after the completion of the quest. I only learned this by reading the UESP recently. I have spent several game sessions looking all over Skyrim for him and it seems the random encounter will not occur. Is there any way I can start it manually using the console ? If not would anyone have any suggestions as to how I can solve this problem ?

Thanks,

Hagar

I'm not sure about codes and whatnot but I have met him on the road just outside Morthal. Didn't have the crown with me at the time, which was a bummer.

I only wear the crown long enough to find him - I can usually produce him by running up and down the road from the junction where you head up toward Meridia's statue, and going north almost to the road by Wolfskull Cave.

That's where he was the first time it happened - was a nifty little unexpected encounter! I wished I'd be able to talk to Katria again, to tell her he got his comeuppance....

I really wish the crown was more elegant, less clunky....

Serethil, I agree on all counts. The crown works well when paired with Ancient Nord Armor and placed on the head of Mjoll the Lioness - she is. . . Nordic enough to carry it off and the colors all work well together. At least I think so - http://i.imgur.com/fF18UO7.jpg.

I very much wish that Katria, at the end of the quest, granted you a spell to summon her for 120 seconds whenever you needed her help. I've looked at Katria mods and none of them quite suit.

Sorry, I couldn't find anything to help. :( Everything says he can be buggy, but does show up. Not sure why he isn't for you. He shows for me very quickly, not far from leaving the Forge.

Thanks to all for your help. I am not so interested in Taron Dreth but I have a Katria mod I would like to try and it won't activate until after the encounter is over. If this doesn't work out on its own I will try to contact the Katria mod designer and ask if there is another way to start it.

Respectfully,

Hagar

Thanks for the try. I may be having trouble because of another Katria mod I tried that was activated during the Lost to the Ages quest but it didn't work out so I dropped it. At the end of the quest instead of the ghost disappearing Katria just stood not moving and I could not talk to her anymore. Even after I removed the mod she was still there so I disabled her and she disappeared. I may have to wait through a new game and try again but I hope not as I truly like the character and followers I have now.

Have you checked your game files? Maybe there's still something left in the data files relating to that mod that still needs to be removed.

Good idea but I am not sure I know how to do it. I have been using computers only about 15 years and didn't grow up with them so I have a lot to learn and I have been known in the past for occasionally doing more harm then good. :unsure2:

Umm, I didn't grow up with them either, but I'm not going there. LOL

The best I can tell you right now would be to go back to te mod page in Nexus (or wherever you got the mod) and check for uninstall instructions. Usually the mod author will say if there is something that needs to be removed manually besides standard uninstall. If not, you can ask in the 'posts' section of the page. Failing that, ask in the Mods section of the Forum here. I wish I could tell you more!

Edit: you can go to your Skyrim data files and see if the old mod is still listed, and delete it if it is. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

computer>'c' drive>Programs>Steam>Steam apps>common>Skyrim>Data

then look down the list.

Thank you. If it is in the data folder I can find that as I know where it is. I will try it and also check the uninstall instructions and then will continue with your other suggestions if it fails. Those are all good ideas.

Thank you. I had not heard of this and I really don't know what it means. Is this something I can download like a mod ?

The quest is DLC1_WESC09 its a random wilderness encounter. Its a Script Event started quest so the usual console commands may not work.

Open the console type this:

SQV DLC1_WESC09

if it says its "running" its happening in the world somewhere if its "stopped" it hasn't triggered yet.

Its classed as a "Road Quest" which means its most likely to encounter him and his merry band wandering the roads of Skyrim although the wiki says he occasionally turns up in Taverns etc I've only ever seen him on the road.

Try this: open console type:

Stopquest DLC1_WESC09

Resetquest DLC1_WESC09

incase its glitched out somewhere, this should reset it ready to trigger again sometime.

I have encountered him once, in the tavern in Markarth. Took quite a bit of reloading to make sure innocents didn't die; he was flinging fireballs all over the place.

The ONLY time I ever saw him was in Markarth's Tavern.
