It's a wonderful game with a few bugs. I give it a 11/10.
Unless you are on the PS3 which seems to be having problems it is well worth buying, if you like open-ended sandbox games. If you prefer storydriven games that lead you from one place to another with tight quests and loads of cut scenes this won't be your cup of tea though. Skyrim is what you make it, it gives you all the tools to tell your own story and make your own fun.
The game is beautiful. There is so much to do, you can easily spend over a hundred hours in the game and still not see it all. If you are familiar with TES games, you know they offer you so much freedom:
You can create your own character class/build. Want to be an archer in Heavy armor? You can! Want to be a sneaky mage? Go ahead! Want a well-spoken warrior that has no problems picking a lock? Can do!
Unlike some other RPGs you aren't railroaded either. You can go almost anywhere on the map right after you finish the tutorial. You can do the main quest right away, or leave it until later, or never do it. You can join any or all of the guild available.
You can get companions, a dog, you can get married.
You can cook, do blacksmithing, mine, chop wood, catch butterflies, fish, pick herbs and turn them into potions.
Don't forget that the majority of players are happily playing the game and don't bother posting on forums, whereas the same small group of people that are unhappy (and some of them have been unhappy since TES3, they only liked Daggerfall) spend most of their time griping on a forum rather then playing something they do like.
There are some very valid complaints ofcourse (especially from the PS3 people it seems), but not everyone finds the same issues a problem, and the things some people complain about (like the perk system for example) others find a mayor improvement.
